Post Question: Who Or What Keeps You Going....?

This month on the 27th I will actually have 14 years of sobriety! "I tried to hang with my using family/friends, you know, be a designated driver, but I found out that I missed my time with my grandkids, who miss me everytime I walk out the door! So what keeps me going is my grandkids, but also my 'Higher Power', who is my Creator! {When I wake up I know where I'm at and with who!!!!!!!}
The toilet is no longer the one I lean on, I have my husband, daughter, and grandkids!!!!
+ G O D So what's your inspiration............?

Not too many would care to "share" but I love the Red Road, as for meetings, I never did like them and I don't attend, but when I had to I did! Some speakers are A-OK, otherwise, it's not my scene.

remembering how bad the hangovers were, bad relationships are gone, knowing God now, keeping myself honorable and clear of damaging substances so i can live to see the next generation in my family.

I quit drinking because I finally did something so horrendously spectacularly stupid that it made the evening news nationwide, embarrassing myself and my family. I quit the day it happened. Haven't had a drink since, haven't wanted a drink since. Even 25 years later it is a strong enough memory that the mere thought of a drink makes me embarassed.

Getting sober(7 1/2 yrs) was the best thing I ever did. It was weird how it happened for me. I woke up one morning with a really strong aversion to even the thought of alcohol. I didn't try or even think about it, just never drank again. I saw something on 60 Minutes one time about the part of your brain that craves booze sometimes just switches and your cravings quit. I must be one lucky S.O.B. for sure!

My family are what makes it all worthwhile. Seeing my kids have a better life than me keeps me getting up in the morning and keeps a smile on my face.

I'll admit it as well. I got sober almost 30 yrs ago.

Back in the old days, (my rock star days) (at least I thought I was a rock star), I was playing out 4 to 6 nights a week. The rest of the time we were traveling gig to gig.

We would awake on the bus about 2pm and then stop for some chow and the liquror store. A lot of times we only stopped at the liquror store. Then the party would begin. We would go on stage smashed off our butts. It seemed that everyone loved our music. During band breaks, there were always drinks lined up at the bar for us so we drank them. Drinks were always passed up on stage too. So we drank them. I lost a lot of time being drunk and don't remember a lot of stuff from back then. There may have been some really good times that I misses because of my drinking. I just don't remember.

Then one day, and I'm not sure what happened, I just STOPPED!!!! No reason why, No DTs, No hangovers, No nothing. I just stopped. I don't even know why. It just happened.

That is one part of my life I would sure like to remember. The "rush" from being on stage playing guitar in front of a huge crowd. I remember some of it when the band was small playing local gigs. It's the big venues that I don't remember.

We were an opening act for some huge concerts back in the 70s.
