Awesome! We drove through Zion Natl Park last year and it had a lot of hoodoos as well.

North America is amazing...wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

"Hoodoo" has a different meaning where I'm from. But here's the definition of the geological formation.

A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, and earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin or badland. Hoodoos consist of soft sedimentary rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements.

They are mainly located in the desert in dry, hot areas. In common usage, the difference between hoodoos and pinnacles or spires is that hoodoos have a variable thickness often described as having a "totem pole-shaped body." A spire, on the other hand, has a smoother profile or uniform thickness that tapers[clarification needed] from the ground upward.

Hoodoos range in size from that of an average human to heights exceeding a 10-story building. Hoodoo shapes are affected by the erosional patterns of alternating hard and softer rock layers. Minerals deposited within different rock types cause hoodoos to have different colors throughout their height.

The page is displaying kinda weird. I couldn't see that Yaahl had answered your question re: hoodoos until I posted; then the last page showed up and I could see there were already other posts from last night? Until then the last post showing was Wyo_Rose's question re: hoodoos.

Found an excellent burger place yesterday. Will def. go back when it's cooler. They don't a/c (just fans) and I'm spoiled when it comes to a/c.

Had their Frida Kahlo burger

1/2 lb. patty, stuffed with chorizo and jack cheese, topped with a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole, and a chipotle lime spread on a toasted/grilled bun!

OMG it was good! An old-fashioned greasy hamburger with fresh-cut french fries. Definitely going back again!

Hello to you Yaahl!
You mean you know him personally? I would have LOVED to be in your place!!!!
Have a LOT of question to ask him.

I'm now reading another book of him: "Back on the Rez".

Hi Goggy:

When you finish that book, check out this author's books:

http://www.nativewiki.org/Richard_Van_Camp

Richard also publishes a list of his favourite native authors so you might want to have a gander at the that as well.

A woman I work with has been telling me for forever: "You gotta go to Cannoli Joe's, you gotta go to Cannoli Joe's; it's so, so good; you like Italian, I can't believe you haven't been to Cannoli Joe's..." and on, and on, and on.

So, today I ordered in from Cannoli Joe's for lunch. Verdict: I'm NEVER going to Cannoli Joe's! Ewww. Everything looked good. I had the chicken & penne in creamy tomato sauce w/spinach. I can't even say it tasted like shyte. It didn't taste like anything!!! It was some of the blandest food I've ever had. Bread & milk has more flavor. Might as well have been stewed cardboard!

When I ordered, I also ordered an order of their lasagna to have for dinner tonight. It looks good, but after the chicken experience I don't hold out much hope.

I ordered caesar salads to go with both the chicken and the lasagna. I ate about 1/3 of a caesar at lunch. I threw the rest out as well as the one I'd ordered to go with dinner. Again - absolutely tasteless! I even tried tasting some of the dressing by itself. It had NO FLAVOR!

I guess I shoulda known better - this is the same woman whose meatloaf smells like Alpo!

Blech!!!

I had a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats and a bowl of Special K with strawberries.

I can't bring myself to eat the lasagna yet. I put it in the icebox. I'll try to eat it tomorrow or Friday.

And, yeah...when it smells like dog food at work, ya know Brenda brought meatloaf!
