Rain, rain go away. LOL! We're supposed to have between 4 and 7 inches by Wed. night, then it's supposed to stop. Thank heavens. I was "trapped" in the house most of the weekend with a 5 year old who is really, really excited because it's so close to Christmas. I love him to pieces, but I was glad when he headed home. :) At least next weekend, he will have new toys to play with, and will be able to get outside. Whew.

Hey Grits, good to see you. Hurry back from whatever is keeping you gone. I miss your cooking. :)

Still raining. Hope Santa has a boat on his sleigh, he's liable to need it. LOL! A good night for some stew and biscuits-or grilled cheese. Yeah-grilled cheese with lots of cheese. :)

I'm hungry, but don't know what I want. We aren't doing Christmas dinner until Fri. when we get the grandson. I work 9 hours Christmas night, get off at 7am-go get him, and home to see what Santa left at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I will be hitting the bullet proof coffee pretty heavy Fri.. LOL! That stuff sounded awful to me until I tried it-and found out I liked it. ROFL!!

After thinkin' about it, an NDN taco sound good. :)

This has been the night from hades at work. On the phone with tech support because somebody, somehow has screwed up the firewall on the work computer, somebody went off and left their dogs alone, they were barking, and bothering people, who were calling me and complaining and it's just one thing after another. Whew, feel better after getting that off my chest. LOL!

On the bright side, in about 4 hours, the grandson will be at our house, and we will be doing Christmas, and I have the weekend off to play with Legos, and cool remote control cars. I will catch you guys Mon.. Have a great weekend.

Mmmmm! Christmas tamales!

One of the women here in the office, her 'buela used to make the best tamales. Just about everyone would buy 3 - 4 dozen each year. I've never been a big fan of Tex-Mex/Mexican food (people use way too much cumin around here); but I was always up for those tamales! I always got the spicy kind; the mild ones just weren't quite as good.

Wish I knew someone who made tamales as good as hers. The ones from the tamale ladies who go door-to-door are just, kinda, well, meh.

There've been a number of articles in our press about the rising number of "invisible poor" in Germany. Much blame placed on "Mutti" Merkel. What say they in Deutschland?

We ended up having cold (for us), but fine weather, for Christmas overall. There's a possibility of freezing rain for New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.

++++++++

Going out early for NYE. Dinner reservations at 6:00. I like being home already before all the drunks are out.

++++++++

Then I'm probably gonna make chili and cornbread (with a side of blackeyed peas) for New Year's Day.

That is true, only that it began earlier before Merkel got to power. The tracks were laid by politicians before and things gradually worsened. Basically since the wall came down a lot of people used to belong to the better middle class in west Germany concerning income. Today they have a system for people to work for low pay. In the news they sometimes say, the finances are getting redistributed from bottom to top. Or easier said, the poor people have to finance extras and life of the rich. The gap between poor and rich became big now, the middle class has vanished to a great extend. In Germany used to only be poor people who were too lazy to work or to excuse me, to stupid. Anyway, I am one of those according to german standarts who lives below poverty level. My computer is my only luxery - but too little income to allow me to participate in normal cultural events that require entrance fees. I am not homeless, never was. Still, it's difficult to have lived like 50 years in the same social class of those with normal income to now belong to the poverty level.
