Hasenpfeffer, ugh.

Thanks for the Pennsylvania Dutch heritage flashback. Dad would go on these kicks, usually after he had been working with the guys from Adtranz. Then it would be time for us to embrace his culinary heritage. I'm a lousy great granddaughter of a German princess (really a poor Amish farmer's wife). I don't like beer, allspice, caraway or buttermilk, all of which figured prominently in my father's "German" cooking.

Toolbox, I can always use BNC terminated coax. If I don't have some antiquated device that needs a hookup, there's always snares for pain in the something colleagues... That's quite the Gordian knot.

Nerd language alert!

I literally have miles of BNC coax. Mostly in bundles of 5 RG59. I also have miles of 4 wire with DB9 connectors on them for serial. I was actually serious about if you want some because otherwise it's all going to the recycling center in a couple of weeks.

I need something in a calming beverage this fine morning.

I had to take my little 3 legged kitty to the vet. She wailed at the top of her lungs for the entire 20min drive. People in the parking lot of the drugstore across the three lane busy street from vet's office were staring, looking for the cat murderer. I felt like such a meanie when I dropped her off.

*Nerd alert*

Then I spent the morning trying to find a selection of speciality EMF shielding materials. In the course of my search, I found one odd website which seems to cater to folks who think they're being spied on, irradiated by, or mind-controlled all the wireless devices in the world. Some products were suggested for placement under your bed sheets. Several items were recommended for head coverings. They had faraday cage bed nets, house paints and caulking compounds. They also were a one stop shop for things I wanted to test but would have had to buy from six different companies. But, it was a little like going to prep'er supply websites, you aren't really sure you want to risk the kind of junk mail you'll receive if they sell your address, LOL.

For you folks not familiar with German cooking, the missing bit is both the pork and the cabbage are pickled. The pickling method for the knuckle is similar to the southern method for pig's feet but the seasonings are the typically -- pardon my over generalizing here -- German blend of allspice, pepper, juniper berries, coriander and garlic. A you love it or you hate it dish.

Just the opposite. We haven't a decent rain since Hurricane Matthew blew through here back in October. We are in a drought and for the last several days have been under a blanket of smoke from the 80,000+ acre wildfire burning in the swamp-aka The Okefenokee Swamp. Even though it's 30 miles west of here, that's the was the wind has been coming from. We need rain.

I will head to the Crawfish Festival this weekend and plan on having some gator on a stick. (Don't like crawfish unless it's etoufee). For a small county, they throw some decent festivals that all revolve around seafood. Besides crawfish, there's also the Catfish Festival and the Rock Shrimp festival. Besides food, they all have parades vintage cars, and pirates. LOL!

NERD ALERT

What has become the worst bit a waste from our facility are these really long HDMI cables. We have some that are 35 feet, 50 feet, and 75 feet long. The cables were very expensive when they were installed, somewhere around $400 each and almost $600 for the 75 foot run, which also required a "cable equalizer" that cost an additional $400. We don't use long HDMI anymore since there are better and more reliable options using CAT6 cabling.

END NERD ALERT

Was in the mood for a Chorizo burrito so I got one from the Mexican truck this morning and an iced coffee from DD. Now off to rip apart more racks and more cables.

Cold water, please.

We just finished fire extinguisher training. We set fires in the parking lot and put them out. It was hot and a bit smoky.

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

There's a chance you might not like me ,

but there's a bigger

chance I won't care
