Oh, nice -- the wood work, not the overwork.

Yep. It’s a little faster sometimes. I’m doing inlaid mother of pearl though so that takes a lil longer.

Interesting. I know nothing about inlay in wood, just silver. Do you grind and polish the MOP after it's in place or before?

After. I’ve done inlaid metals too. There’s tons of flexibility inlaying into wood.

My friends, today is the funeral for Sue. Wife of 51 years. Cold here in Bowling Green, Ky. It promises to be better tomorrow for the trek to Ridgely Tn. for burial. The creator sure provides the grace that you need for whatever occasion. Truly, when you are weak, you are strong. Thank you, Jesus. For those of other beliefs, she is going back to the earth from which she came. It has been such a pleasure learning from you all in this short time I have been on here. It has been a great help and encouragement to me just to come to pow wows dot com in the last few days since Sunday 11 days ago when she had her cerebral hemorrhage and became comatose in 15 or 20 minutes. God bless you all.

Sorry to hear this, Ches. Don't be a stranger around here.

Since the cold seems to have left most of us (I think), I brought some beef stew to help with the thaw.

Coming back from the burial, I was between Fulton, Ky and Murray, Ky and on Hwy 94 saw two signs “actual route of trail of tears”. Makes you think about the winter weather.

Spring seems to have sprung down here-at least my allergies think so. LOL! I still haven't heard any word about an ortho appointment yet for my shoulder, but I did eliminate one hassle. I got a hair cut a couple of days ago. I went from able to sit on it length, to shoulder length. I'm still trying to get used to that person looking back in the mirror at me. I simply couldn't take care of the long hair with only 1 arm working. I figure by the time my shoulder is back in shape, my hair will have grown out. Haha!

Hope you get your appointment fast.

If it takes that long I'll pray that your shoulder heals long before your hair is long again as it was.

Earlier I was thinking how glad I am not to be young anymore in today's world. It has gotten too restrictive in every way especially for parents. That goes for where I live.

A cousin of mine visited the Fenimore Art museum over the holidays. He sent me an email about his trip. This got me thinking about a book of ledger art, by Black Hawk, housed in their collection.

So, I pulled out Berlo's book about the ledger and I saw his drawings of Night Dances again. I was inspired. I'm working on designing necklace with a line of old-time dancers. I have all but the focal dancer drawn up. Hopefully, this weekend I'll be able to start.

In Lakota, the third person plural affix for transitive verbs, LOL. But in this context, I don't know.

Next time you're at a powwow and there is a break, I'd take some tobacco and bottled water to a singer and ask. That's how I learned the story behind my favorite rabbit dance song.

Well, I have mostly finished my design. I need transfer it to the silver.

Ever since they changed the solvent in US rubber cement formulations to n-heptane, it no longer sticks tracing paper to metal well enough to survive the drilling and sawing. I have to scan my sketches and print them on Avery label sheets. That sticks but you have to pray the toner doesn't rub off before you finish cutting. I want to everything ready tonight, so I can go to the lapidary club shop and work all day tomorrow.

The contractors are supposed to start the framing on my studio tomorrow. I need to be out of the driveway, so they can deliver the lumber and roofing materials at 9am. They claim the big delays now will the waiting for all the inspections. Hopefully, by April I'll have my home for the my torch -- um -- my studio done, and I won't have to drive across town to solder.
