Sounds like you need a hot tub to soak those sore joints.

Today was 92F. Downright cold for August in Texas.

I got out to the studio for 3 hours this morning and 2 hours this afternoon. Got a bunch of soldering done. Filed and fitted two of these weird compound angle pieces. I may be coming out of my slump.

I've been really struggling with this batch of triangle wire. The #3, that I use to build frames for inlay, is as thick as 10-8 ga round wire in places. This batch twisted as it came out of the rollers at the factory. I anneal and anneal and anneal and I still can't get it soft enough to straighten. I don't have a mill to straighten it. (At $2K for a good one, which I'd use 2-3 times a year, I'm not getting one.) I've been forced to push on it while it's red hot, which is risky with Ag since it's heat short.

I'd just buy some more, but sterling has more than doubled in price since March. It's been going up close to a dollar a day for the past week. I'm afraid we're going to see a repeat of the 2010-2013 when the prices were over $25/toz and hit $48.50/toz. I mostly quit working silver. I had a class where I had to buy a 6"x8" sheet of 20ga. Set me back as much as half a week's tuition for my class.

After reading your silver prices, I went to KITCO and looked at their silver and gold graphs for 30 days. Some people must really be getting scared of the stock market. Gold from 1,700 up in the 1,900’s. You have already mentioned the silver which started around 17 something.

Silver hit a 10 year low in March. Right at the beginning of the lock down. It was in the high $11 range. Had I known my company would have two records sales months and hand out bonuses, I'd have bought like a drunken sailor. But, I didn't. Needless to say, I'm kicking myself now.

I'm not sure the stock market is the driver on this. I think tensions with China are more the problem. The current sharp rise started within days of the US announcement of the closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston. And accelerated when the Chinese threw us out of Chengdu.

Gold now is higher than it was during the 2011-2013 period, which was the last prolonged high. But except for the brief downturn at the start of the lockdown, it's been in a bumpy but steady rise since July 2018. That may have correlated to pending bear market talk that had been going on for over a year. It wasn't until the China problems worsened that the rate changed significantly.

Silver is weird. It isn't as clearly stock market driven as gold is. It is a secondary investment metal. And it is a bigger industrial metal than gold. It is used in so many devices and electronics; things that weren't even invented 10 years ago.

This is the part of jewelry making I hate. Besides the Black Hills, this craziness is one of the reasons, I won't use gold at all.

Wonder if the socialist-communist riots or the election has any current influence on silver and gold.

My crystal ball gazing skills are limited with silver. I do better with gold. If you use my gazing for an investment, you're none too smart, LOL.

When states started reopening, silver moved back up to around $18/toz, which is where it had been before the lockdown. It was pretty flat through the unrest in June.

After the elections, I suspect gold at least will move. Depending on the election result it could move a lot.

Quite high prized the silver and for silver we have to pay taxes additionally.

The so called "Umsatzsteuer" or "Mehrwertsteuer". Sales taxes, Value added tax? At the moment 16% and at end of the year we switch back to the 19%.

Too late to invest in gold and silver I think.
I have some pound of food tin in the form of drinking cups and shot glass.

Found a half spool of electronic blank silver wire 0,75mm. Lies already for 10+ years in the drawer and has turned partly black.

I try to stay safe but we start next week as ever.

Everybody will have to wear a mask and the windows have to be opened.

Out of 6 windows, two can be opened. Originally none should have been able to be opened. A little misconstruction of the ventilation system.

Ha! We didn't even get grazed, thank goodness. We've had worse northeasters-and gotten more rain which we really kinda need. There's another system brewing out there-it's a couple of weeks out yet.

WD, you need to take it easy on all that chainsawing stuff. You aren't as young as you used to be. LOL!

Last night I got one wanting to give me a "free" upgrade to my smart TV. He kept going on and on. Telling me about "my TV" notifying them it needed an upgrade or it would quit working.

I have to laugh. My TV is anything but smart. It's a 20 year old, picture tube set. Modern TV programs don't even fit on the screen. It's a stupid TV. The only upgrade it needs is a trip to the dump, LOL.

I never knew how many telemarketing calls I got until I stayed home. A storm last year knocked down the line, and when it was fixed the caller ID had quit working. So, I can't tell who is calling and I have to answer because it might be work. I get between 20 and 40 calls a day. Most between 11am and 2pm.

LOL Our "home phone" is unplugged. We have it to be able to have home internet ! LOL That's truly the only reason ! We each have cell phones and we aren't attached to them ! Phones however , are a necessary evil ! We have to have them in today's society , but unlike some we don't have to be "attached at the hip ". I refuse to have life dictated to me through my phone !I tell anyone that calls , leave a message or leave a number , if I need to speak with you , I'll call you. I just told the lady at my health insurance office "I don't need an everyday play by play , just tell me when you're done" when trying to get some medical bills straightened out !Grrrr....

Now I feel bad about checking in with you all. Am I addicted to my phone? Can I go somewhere without it.Oh! I forgot, I am not supposed to socialize and go places. I guess I can talk to my creator and see how long I can go without touching my phone. Of course my hand will keep going up to my right shirt pocket spasmodically.

Until lockdown, my cell number was one of the better guarded secrets. I had only given it to one person at work. And they were not to divulge it, under penalty of death.

My younger colleagues do everything on their personal phones. They go on vacation but tell everyone to call. They answer emails and calls all hours of the day and night. And, they expect everyone else to be equally available. I think it makes them feel important. I don't feel the need to pretend I'm that important, LOL.

It causes quite a stir when I go to my workshop every year. No one can figure out how I go without phone or email for a week.

The campus is a deep gulch with a river at the bottom. Despite the town being a huge tourist trap, cell coverage is spotty. Then the main studio building has steep metal roof that extends way out to cover outside working areas; The second floor studios are in a dead spot. After lunch, you'll find 30-40 people standing in the middle of the driveway between the dining hall and the main studio, calling their spouse or kids.

The twenty something will have the shakes by the end of the week. I've seen a work study or two caressing the school's UHF two way radios, like a long lost love. It's a box with voices, LOL.

When there was no internet, no cell phones but only wire phones, the number of calls was much less than today.

OK, the prices for calling were high as you paid per minute. Long distance calls uhuh and abroad double and tiple aua.

Today I see kids with three cell phones and communicating almost without a stop. Some already bump against road signs, traffic lights and street lanterns.
