Shall I come by with the snow plug, hot tea and a heater and a lunch of your choice?

The snow plow is probably pointless, since at this point it isn't actually sticking to anything but trees and eaves. We're not supposed to get down below freezing until tonight. We're at 36F now. The worst case accumulation is 3-4", which would put it in the top 20 snow events for our area. The low end predictions are 1-2".
I'm having flashbacks to the Feb 2011 snow. Twelve and a half inches overnight. The upper 1/3 of tree by the corner of my house came down on my car in the driveway. Most snow ever recorded in the DFW area. The kid across the street is running around the yard, with a plate, trying to catch snow flakes. His mother has him bundled up in full snow suit, boots, gloves and a knitted ski mask. His parents must have ordered this get up online, from someplace in Canada. He looks like the little brother in A Christmas Story -- "I can't put my arms down!" During an extended oil embargo and winter weather induced school closure, my mom sent me out into -10 F weather to play dressed in less clothes -- with orders not to return in less than an hour unless some body part went numb. |

The tea and the lunch than may be acceptable as a drive by?
-10°F that is cold. I think I only once encountered such a temperature in my life. Your mom knew what she did and prepared you for. |

I look back on it. This was when my dad was working Brazil for months on end. The governor closed all the schools in the state for 3 weeks to save heating oil. All four of us lived in a 2 bedroom house with only the living room in which to play. Being a nerdy, obsessive child I had already spent a week and a half trying to build my own Skylab, with an old sheet, three TV trays, and a million part all metal erector set. The tiny screws and nuts with 1970's shag carpeting were a bad mix; they messed up the vacuum cleaner twice. I think at that point, she might have been more concerned with preventing filicide than frostbite, LOL. |

Went to Pastor today for counseling for marriage. It was helpful, but a little uptight. At least, he is going to marry us. I guess we passed the test so far. Creator has made someone for me even at my advanced age. A kind loving verlobter (fiance)

They have not restricted us to 10 people at Plum Springs Baptist Church for the wedding. Everyone will be spaced out. Probably not a big attendance.

Warm day. I have to get the brush mower to the repair place. Some mysterious box in the gas line leaks gasoline down the side of the hot engine when I run it. I am not suicidal, so, I better get it fixed now that I have a warm day to get it down there.

Congrats on the engagement, ches.
I deleted a couple of threads because the guy who posted them thought we were match. com or something and was trolling for dates. Now, I don't remember his name to ban him. You used to be able to ban somebody at the bottom of the delete page. Oh well, I'll get him if he tries a 3rd time. LOL! It's cold here again, it's supposed to be around 28 in a few hours. On a happyy note, by Wed., it should be 70. Princess Diva has now become a housecat and is fascinated by the gas heater in the dining room. That's her spot, and if one of us decides to stand by it, we are met with the kind of death stare that only an 18 pound cat is capable of giving you. LOL!

Thanks subs! I wasn't sure what our policy was on posts like that. I confess to taking the "ignore it and maybe it will go away" approach.
We're going to have two nice days, then a week of rain. We desperately need it, but I'm not looking forward to the cold and gray. |
