To Tree or not to Tree, That is the question

A Tannenbaum? Old Spruce? Yule Tree? Christmas tree? Dead tree in the room?

Who is going with a tree for the holiday season?
If using one is it real or fake?

Whats your fav. Ornaments?

I hope to get a small cedar tree...new LED lights, and a few old favorite ornaments...some that remind me of Christmases past...maybe string some stale popcorn, and topped with a homemade angel.

hi JD…i plan on going into the woods to dig up a tree..hopefully a 3 to 4 foot one. i plan on keeping it alive, then after the holiday,, planting it back where it belongs. thats the plan…but i have to find a good shovel first. then go hunting for my perfect tree…im sure it is waiting for me.
then i will put on mini lights, lots of glass ornaments, maybe even some of the platic tinsel.
last year i did the lights, but didnt have any store bought decorations, so i got all of my necklaces and hung them on the branches….it looked pretty good.

Hubby is the xmas guy around here so we put up 4 trees... one main one in the living room - with a Haida Raven as a topper, a smaller one in the family room that is decked out in cedar haida/tlingit/tutchone ornaments and one that's for the grand kids... it has all home made decorations, edible stuff like popcorn strings, candy canes, sugar cookie ornaments, melted sugar strings balls, candy floss snow etc. We also have a little tree for the dogs and on the lower branches we put dog friendly cookies for the mutts along with chew toys for decorations.

I make a gingerbread great house (think Haida) and add some chocolate totem poles. ( I made a silicone mould from an old souvenir totem pole I found in an airport shop.)

My xmas presents are wrapped as if they were the Raven's light boxes in black/white/yellow paper and bows.

Wow, yes!! Please post pics.

One year in my apartment, I found myself in the possession of a bunch of artificial trees, so I did a big traditional tree in the livingroom, a blue and white tree on my upstairs landing, a small food oriented tree in the kitchen and another small one in my bedroom.

When I lived in the village, I put up lights on our house, and it was such a good feeling coming home and seeing lights on my own house. I'm trying to talk DH into Christmas lights, but he's a Scrooge!

When we moved and had extra UNUSED PVC sewer pipes left over, I sawed some slits in one end, stood them on end and secured them with 4 looong strands of wire staked down, and ran lights around the whole thing. During the day it didn't look like much, but at night, they were perfect lighted 'trees'.

Everyone's trees sound cool!

Every year I have a small Christmas party for my gentile friends. For that party I have a 6 foot artificial tree. The ornaments are various and sundry ones I've picked up at Target, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Pottery Barn, etc..

Personally, I like the bristle brush animal ornaments.

We have 2 artificial trees. One is 4ft. and the other 6ft.. I haven't decided which one I will put up this year. Since my grandson is a very active almost 3 year old, I may just take the cautious route and put the small one up. Almost all our tree ornaments are handmade over the years. I started when my son was younger than my grandson. I didn't want to have to worry about him knocking into the tree and breaking something and cutting himself on those glass ornaments. It just turned into a tradition to make stuff for the tree. Every year was a different style, so the tree has kind of a Victorian folk art look. LOL!

Those are cool! I'm gonna have to check out Hobby Lobby. LUV their Christmas selection. Once I was able to do a Seashore themed tree with seashells, sanddollars, and nets I had. Then picked up some shiny gold rope and starfish on hanger, and a big starfish for the top.
