Wedding Rings - Turquoise???

I was thinking about gold and turquoise wedding rings - I know it is my decision but what does everyone else think about them? Does anyone have one? I was thinking of the pros and cons - plus, do you have any websites that I can look at??

I have never seen one in gold.. but silver yes.. beautiful tho i imagine.

Personally i think weedding rings are a representative of your relationship with each other... your goals in life... rings can be made to reflect as such. If you and your partner feel this is something you want than go fer it. Personalized rings are special gifts to one another and shows that you took thought and pride into it and thought alot of the other person.
good Luk in your serach.. if I come across any sites Ill let ya know.

I was just talking to one of my friends and she said that turquiose is a brittle stone that can become discolored after time when it absorbs oils, etc. And I am not the easiest person on jewelry. All my turquoise is not an everyday thing but watches and necklaces that I wear all the time get a beating!!!

Hmm I think there is a gloss or coating they can use so that this doesnt happen. You may want to make an appointment with a jeweler and see what ya can all come up with together. take in your basic design and see if thats what they can do. he/ she may be able to direct you in your choices that is suitable and something that you both can live with.
the consultation should be free, after all your not making commitments just inquiring.

I've seen some turquoise/gold jewelry before. They are nice to look at, but pricey. I've also seen some turquoise/silver/diamond wedding rings before, and looked really nice.

Yeah if you buy the CHEAP, FAKE stuff.

There's turqouise in jewelry that's thousands of years old, dating back to Pharonic times. To at least 5,000 BC in South America. To 1000AD in the Southwest, and it's still as bright and vivid as the day it was pulled from the earth.

It's a tough stone.

If you have cheap or fake stones.......or stones that LOOK like turqouise, then I'd say, YES.....overtime, they will absorb oils and fade or change in coloration.

Turqoiuse in general, DOES fade, or discolor as it absorbs oils from your hands or whatever, but, it's such a minor thing, and the change isn't very dramatic.....usually.

If anything, it'll only darken in color as it ages and absorbs oils. It's a very dense, HARD stone, or brittle....depending on what your buying and if it's been stabilized or not.

Anyway.

I wouldn't rule out the option just yet.

Go for hard, natural stones.

Some are color enhanced, they'll naturally fade.

You'll pay more, but, you'll know why when you see that it's really a durable stone.

I've always wanted turquoise in my wedding ring along with diamonds set in platinum or white gold Wishful thinking? A couple months ago I saw some nice rings with all different kinds of stones in them, some of them with turquoise. I grabbed a business card but when I tried the website I couldn't find any of the ones I saw at the pow wow... but here's the address anyways www.navajocreations.com

Smile wedding bands

I saw a stunning gold wedding band that was carved as a feather that I fell n love with and wish I could have seen before we got married.
Here are some links that might help you find just what the 2 of you are looking for. You could also e-mail Sam Siverhawk and ask him if he could make the design that you want if you don't find any that you like.

Thanks for the good ideas folks. Right now we haven't set the date yet. Getting a new house is EXPENSIVE! We are still trying to get everything straight. Thank God I had a "hope chest" - I had lots of stuff in that.

What kind of house are you looking for? My hubby went to Jim Walter Homes when he had this one built. (before we got together.) He only had it partically finished. We had a big HOUSE WARMING Party for him when it was done. Kind of like a old fashioned barn raising. A whole bunch of us showed up in work clothes and put the finishing touches on the sheetrock, painted walls and ceilings, cleaned construction trash up and had a big bon fire in the back yard when the day was done, cooking over the fire and relaxing while we all caught up and looked at the stars. This house started off small (suppose to be 3 bedrooms but the 3rd. one was barely bigger than a walk in closet.) As the years have passed and our family has grown we have added on as we could afford it, expanding the living room, adding a dinning room, midsize bedroom and new master bedroom and bath. We also expanded the kitchen and put in oak cabinets from Home Depot ourselves, and about 8 years ago added a front porch all the way across the front of the house.
My best advice is make sure you have a basement and that Home Depot gives classes in just about everything you need to know about working on a house. I should know we are just finshed remodeling the whole house.
Are you going to register for gifts?

We already have the house - my bf moved in back in April. I am not moving in until we are married. I was just saying that doing all the things we had to do to move in - paint the WHOLE house (inside) and now getting decorations is expensive!!!

Hi Becky,
Why don't you make a list of the things you need and paint colors that you want, then check with your local building supply store to see if they have a wish list. I know Home Depot does, that way you can add a card in the wedding invitations and even in the public annoucement in the newspaper that you are registered and where for gifts.
A friend of our did this when he got married and moved from his apartment to a home and a group of us got together and bought them the lawn mower that they had registered for. Her family paid for the washer and dryer. This would be a great way to get the things you need for the house including the paint and people would know that their gifts are going to be appericated by you both. Less to return too, take it from someone who got 4 toasters!

Sure why not have a turquoise/gold wedding ring???

My friends at Timber Fox Traders used to have some in their store before they moved out of our mall... they have a store somewhere else now.... those rings were beautiful too.

My ring is black hills gold and a family heirloom.... the alternative would have been a turquoise/silver ring...

Just make sure you have the good solid turquoise.... (not the fake brittle ones made from flakes and chips).... maybe choose your own stone??? some folks do this and have the ring made for it...

Also there's a thing jewelers are doing these days (though I don't necessarily think it's right or not).... they do "upgrades" on wedding rings when the owners want to and can afford it later... years after the wedding, perhaps for a special anniversary....

It's a matter of personal choice between you and your future spouse ~ go with your hearts
