At Mesa (AZ) Powwow every year, we used to have a local homeless nut (white guy) named "Dizz" show up every year on Sunday toting a large wooden cross over his shoulder with a little wheel at the bottom of it. All the little kids would follow him around outside the arena laughing and skipping.
He would be preaching that we (heathen Indians) were all going to hell. I dunno what ever happened to him though.

A few years back at the Austin, TX pow wow there was this lady wearing a beige sweater and jeans, and she had tied all kinds of bird feathers, turkey feathers, goose feathers, etc. onto that beige sweater and danced. It was pretty weird!!

It's not the craziest, but it was kind of crazy. Anyway, at the Sac & Fox pow-wow in Stroud, OK, the mc announced that there was certain young gentlemen who was single and wanted to meet a single female singer. The MC had brought him out for everyone to see. He wasn't embarassed, so I thought it was kinda keen. At least he put himself out there. The guy's got guts.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkk not the craziest but fun I would say,, I was Headlady dancer at a powwow bout a week ago,, anyways,, the drum asked me "hey is that Gary Farmer over there?" All of them being to shy and me NOT I said "well let me go ck it out" I started to walk up to this tall glass of water of a man, and begin to realize it WAS GARY FARMER ,, okk so I started to walk like I was floating,,, he looked over at me , but of course,, lol well ok I had the BIGGEST CHEESIEST SMILE ON MY FACE ,,, I think my face almost broke from my smile ,,, he smiled back at me and I walked right into his arms,, YUP YUP,, I said in the happiest voice " HEYYYYYYYY HOW YOU BEEEEEENNN"!! he replied taking me in his arms and said ' REAL good how are you?" I whispered in his ear trying not to stick my tounge in there and said "Your Gary arent you"? he said "yes" then held me back and said in a supprised voice "ohhh I thought I knew you" I said " that is ok,, I am HeadLady Dancer here and I introduced myself,,, and said to him come on over the drum wants to meet you",,, "he said ok,,, well I think I floated over with him as I linked my arm in his (as if we was a couple) and introduced him to the drum who all had grins on there faces!! We took pics with him and all ,, he is a really nice man....and was gracious enough to sign the drum.... all in all it wasnt the craziest thing but I sure had fun!!! hmm lemme see Mrs. Twobraidzz Farmer,,, ayeeeeeeeeee. The craziest thing i saw at powwow. Was when we were host drum in Wash. D.C. This white guy dressed up in tradish. outfit was crawling on the ground during a sneak up song, right before the song would start to pick up the guy pretended to throw a handgerande and then with his dance staff he began to act like it was gun and start to point his staff a people in the crowd, and pretended to start shooting everyone. He did this all the way through the whole song.

Once saw a white dude who musta had a dream his grandpy was a big chief or something, cuz he made a head dress from a styrofoam circle (like the kind our kids would use for a floatie) and poked about 500 dyed feathers of all different colors into it, and was actually wearing it on his head..Proud as could be...ahhh Doiii!!!!:Eyepopper

Two things.
At a pow wow in LA a few years ago I was dancing northern tradish and a bug crawled up my fringe on my top down into my underwear. It was just a small spider and it started to bite my butt...and not just once...like 5 times... I was sitting under our friends arbour in between exhibitions or something...All of a sudden in the middle of the pow wow you hear me screaming and running in circles. I ran out into the arena, out into the vendors area...starting to undress....top flying over to the side...whipping my skirt down (I had a tshirt and shorts on underneath) reaching down into my shorts and running in circles grabbing my own *** trying to squash whatever was biting me. I finally got it and I ran to the port-a-potty and caught a baby black widow spider in my underpants! It was so sick. I changed and didn't dance for the rest of the day because I thought I was going to die from the poision. I guess black widows are not poisionous when they are small. Totally embarrassing Then that same year at Gathering there was this guy coming down the aisle with the men's traditional screaming...he was practically naked with an oar. he was swingin this oar all around and like hitting everyones feathers and stuff. IT was kinda funny at first but if you have seen gatherings grand entry it is like packed, and he was really pushy...everyone was trying not to get hit with this oar....that was insane

OK, thankyou for clearing that up Blackbear. Now I won't always wonder about it; I still feel bad for whom ever she was.
