Yes, unfortunately I do see your point about breastfeeding being a full-time thing. Sad that mothers have to work to feed our kids.
Breastfeeding alone can burn up to 1400 calories a day. So, a breastfeeding mother does need to eat like she is feeding two people, kwim?
Not like in pregnancy, where a mother should only increase her dietary caloric intake by 300 or put her and her baby at risk.

When I had my first baby, I was in college full-time and had a full-time job, and a part-time job. I was very fortunate that my aunts and mom would drive my baby to wherever I was at and let me nurse her, so i never had to use formula.

Not everyone has that privelage.

Don't feel bad about having to supplement with formula. I know how hard it is to find a job that will let a mom pump, or take a break long enough to nurse her baby.

Hopefully, someday soon, we'll be able to change that so every mom can have the right to breastfeed.
