Had to bump this one up from way back......

We have a giveaway next month and want to honor someone that has been working really hard to turn his life around. He has also helped us a lot with handy man stuff around the house. He talks a lot about doing the simple things again like going fishing and camping with his sons so I think we are going to give him a new rod and reel. Sound alright? Don't want to be cheesy....lol

ok,

I have never seen a rod and reel given at a give away but if I ever received one, I would really like it! I would definitely use it. I'm sure your friend would too.

A long time ago people gave away rifles, bows and arrows as gifts. Times change and so must we...

Speaking of fishing, I'm going fly fishing for trout on my summer vacation - inbetween powwows!

Fishing stuff sounds like a great idea! You could get the little tiny tackle boxes and put a few items in there - depending on what the fish in your part of the country like.

When my friend has a giveaway for her little girl, she got little colorful giftbags and put some cool stuff in them. I can't remember everything that was in them, but there were little toys, books and snacks. Walmart has 24 packs of crayons for 20 cents now...and good coloring books for $1.00. Little bottles of bubbles would be good.

Snacks are good items especially if you're doing a lot. In quart-size ziplock bags, you could pack something sweet, something salty, something crunchy and some gum.

I'm old-school for guys and will probably always do: gloves, bandanas, and socks wrapped around a pack of smokes.

A little pack with safety pins, rubber bands, shoelaces, Shout wipes, and tape (duct or electrical) would be cool.

Or hand sanitizer, wet wipes, flossers, sunblock, mosquito wipes, chapstick, pocket packs of kleenex.

Dang, I also found some OU cooler bags that were on clearance for $6 and they hold 18 cans of whatever. Then we had a big grocery store have it's grand opening last weekend and they had everything cheap, so I bought some powerade, bandanas, smokes, jolly ranchers and seeds in there. And about a month ago I found some Buckley's Cough Syrup at the Dollar Tree for just a buck. Bought all they had. Put a bottle of that stuff in there, too. Yuck but the singers seem to tolerate it ok. lol

Our dollar tree has those little emergency sewing kits, duct tape, safety pin packs, and shoe laces- for under $5 I can make a pretty good giveaway set- call it the outfit emergency pack.

Glad there are others out there who love Dollar Tree like me :-)
I was wondering.... what would be the best gifts to give if doing a give-a-way and you do not know anyone personally, like if you don't know they like to fish or sew, ect?
Not to steal away from the original poster's post, just thought I'd ask!
Thank you!!!!
