Found My Animal Totem !

Ok, so I have been away from the forums for a long while. I've had many things happen in my life these past 7 months. After searching for a long while my animal totem has finally revealed itself to me and I'm excited to share. The Sparrow Hawk is my totem. I can't believe I didnt see it before, but as usual I wasn't paying attention. It came to me in my dream when I asked the creator to please give me guidance to my totem. I knew there were many things I need/needed to learn. I'm just excited that just a few minutes ago I discovered my totem. Many things to learn :)

You will find in responses coming that these types of things are discussed often on public forums.

Hey, Jadenia! I was thinking about you just a week or two ago, and wondering where you'd gotten off to! How're things going?

I know I come off as rude alot, not just on these forums but in life in general, but I'm not, I'm just very blunt, so, with that said...after further re-review of prior posts, bio and info, I'm stickin with my original post. It just seems to me that a Wiccan or even neo-pagan site might be more appropriate for you Jadenia. But hey, that's just my opinion. I mean I can at least have some respect for you, you didn't come off with any I feel it in my blood wanna be crap, you were upfront and honest, and I definitely respect that.

Again, Just my opinion

Joe's Dad 12-09-2011 05:47 PM

I'm almost positive she'll agree with your opinion.

Hi Jadenia, I'm glad you're back.

As for the animal totem...

OLChemist 12-09-2011 07:14 PM

Why is it no one discovers their "totem animal" is an earthworm? Why does no one want power from those larger members of Oligochaetes? Is it the humility factor, all that crawling in the dirt? Or is it the whole hermaphrodite thing?

Seriously, Jadenia, this isn't talked about on the internet, at least not in serious Native circles. This is a matter for privacy and discretion. The harsh teasing you're going to get is trying to remind you of boundaries.

Welcome back Jadenia,

I can't think of the right words to make you laugh for such a ridiculous post.

This isn't the first time she's tried to discuss things that should remain off the internet. Her last posts before her absence was about wiccan stuff.

OLC, if it be known my totem is the wonderful high altitude Yukon Mosquito (Mosquitiumsucudryum). A powerful beast that can bring the strongest of men to their knees and drive them mad.

Powerful indeed. I just spent a week and a half on a barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico, hanging out in the shadow of the refineries. I fed many of your totem's cousins. I've never put on DET in the shower before, LOL. Covered myself head to toe in repellent and toted a couple of Off fans. The buggers only got dizzy on approach.

If you're half as persistent, may I never tick you off.

Onezhee...u got the nicest ways with words!!! :hysterica

wanjica_the_one 12-09-2011 10:38 PM

I don't understand why non-native people can't look to their own family for support. We have brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, parents and grandparents, why would we put a sparrow hawk over them?

Jadenia 12-09-2011 11:31 PM

Thanks

Thanks for all the welcome backs its nice to see everyone again. No I'm not married in fact I'm alone. He one day after 5 years of living together just said he didn't love me and that was the end of it more or less. So I won't go into that one, but like i said many changes have happened in the past few months.
Also OL and others who wish to tell me what I should and shouldn't do and what is acceptable or not. Last time I checked anyone can say what they wish as long as it allowed in the forums. I didn't ask whether I should or shouldn't discuss my spiritual path with others. IN fact I wish to share because maybe my journey will teach or help someone else with theirs. I know I certainly have been taught things by others or learned from others.
Also maybe I have no one else to tell. Maybe I have no family or friends or lover. So maybe I'm coming off as rude, maybe my grammar sucks and maybe it's not the norm, but life isn't always about whats acceptable or the norm. Its about finding your place in a big world and finding the path you were meant to walk. Also yes I am currently takin wiccan classes and also learning from a native friend. I seem to be at a mix of both right now but I'm sure I'll find my path. I just know from the message that was sent to me whether I'm Wiccan or Pagan or whatever I may be I have things to learn from the Sparrow hawk.
Also for the earthworm comment, if I could have chosen my totem it obviously would have been a turtle (check the lil nick name), my favorite animal...... but you don't get to choose. Or even a dolphin, any of my favorite animals but a Sparrow Hawk never even thought about that animal. ever. But I have found an animal that obviously wishes to teach me and I am very thankful for whatever lessons it will give me. :)
So make harsh comments about what I should or shouldnt share in Your* beliefs. I will share with whom I wish and whenever I wish. I'm so happy this hop jump and skip down my path that I could care less what anyone thinks I was just happy and had no one to tell. Also keep in mind Native Americans aren't the only people with beliefs that animals can teach us things and they arent the only believers in spiritual paths either. Remember I'm not officially wicca but I am learning more about it as we speak. So when i refer to my spiritual path or an animal totem it doesn't necc. mean I'm always speaking in the Native beliefs.

What have you found out about your Cherokee heritage? It seems kind of hypocritical to me to be searching for your Native heritage, yet at the same time embracing faiths who take bits of Native beliefs and corrupt them and twist them to suit their own purpose. Oh, well. Just my lil' own opinion.

Also Yaahl.... referring to my post I take offense to this. "Her last posts before her absence was about Wiccan stuff." Ok, I don't know if your just undereducated or what but Wicca beliefs have many similarities to Native beliefs....

I have no issues with Wiccans, in fact, I know some incredibly nice ones. They know how I feel about certain issues and we have had some lively discussions. However, "Wicca beliefs have many similarities to Native beliefs" takes me back to the fact that they often corrupt Native beliefs and in turn, that misleads people. I don't believe in misleading people regardless of what the issue is.
