In life there are risks. You can't expect to get good results without making a few big risks.

He isn't moving halfway around the world or country. He's moving a couple hundred miles tops. It doesn't sound like where he lives is a good environment for him. It's a no-brainer. Move! And move where you want to live!

It is obvious he isn't moving just for one lady. It makes sense to make a fresh start.

I say GO FOR IT! There are MANY of your friends here who are rooting for you, Bear. You can do it!!!!!!

I tend to agree with the above statement. But for this individual being discussed, I dont advocate for or advocate against moving, it is his own personal decision and he will have to live with the consequences associated with that decision.

I think this individual truly has somewhat a distorted sense of reality in several areas. In reading the various posts, I don't see anyone advocating that he not move, but they are trying to bring to light misperceptions that he may have. Again in the end it is his choice!

Exactly. On the plus side, it seems that this gentleman's current living environment is not too pleasurable, so a move seems like a good thing. Sometimes in life you have to jump right in (and jumping takes strength of will and courage, so I applaud WB for that). Just don't want to see another person hurt due to, as Ibgood stated previously, a 'distorted sense of reality'. Either way, wishing for the best on his journeys!

My bad. Sorry, LBGood and others. I misread. I thought they were trying to talk him out of his choice.

Bear has talked about this move for months now, shared about the town he wants to live in and about his mother. And sure, he has an idealized approach. But he has been there, and he has seen the area and has met people. He may see through rose colored glasses now...but whom of us didn't when we were embarking on something as important as a move like this.

Bear has trouble sometimes with his spelling and expressing himself the way he wants on the internet, but this forum is good practice for him. I think it is awesome that he chosen to share with us a lot of really personal issues.

I am a retired school teacher from a neighboring state. The administrators always talked about Missouri and how horrible their schools are there. Worse than that, their home schooling has no oversight at all. Kids are often pulled out of school or never go because they are needed at home, and the state says that's okay. And even today at age 49, Bear is needed at home to care for his elderly mother.

But it is time he lives his own life...and raises his family in a state that has better education opportunities than Missouri.

I believe he will like living near his sweetheart, to check it out further; maybe she will be right for him, maybe not. He will do this better in person on a day to day basis. And if she is not the right one, perhaps another one is right.

At first, I thought he was a little presumptuous to share so much information as he does, but I think it is because he has a very honest and open heart. He also trusts us. And in some ways, we are his extended virtual native family.

I have never heard Bear be anything but respectful, kind and honest. I know he reveres us WAY too much. Moving to OK, he may come to see the truth of the matter, but right now, he is doing something for himself to hopefully better another generation in another statee.

OK schools are well regulated and good students come out of it. Bear has checked these things out.

So again, my bad, I thought people were trying to talk him out of something he has worked hard and planned long for...a move that will benefit him, his mother and his potential family.

Yes, Zeke. Even if he knew the native tongue, they wouldn't have allowed it to be used in school any more than they would allow someone from Turkey to speak Turkish. No one would understand it.

In most tribal schools children are encouraged to learn and use the native tongue. He wants his children to go to tribal schools.

What is romantic about that? He cares about his kids' education.
