I can't believe the petti-ness of some people on here, its like 5th grade all over again. Me and my crew were WORKING hard, all weekend in crazy, awful HEAT and DUST, we never stopped moving, to make sure that all you dancers and singers could have good, fast tabulating. Who cares what we were wearing????? We are the first ones to get there every day and the last ones to leave at night, we didn't have the convenience of staying onsite, heck we didn't even have parking PASSES, so we barely had an extra minute to eat, much less change clothes.
I'm never comfortable in the arena in shorts, but I was more concerned with getting the ballots from the judges hands to mine without anyone else in between and covering the distance from that dumb booth to the arena. ALL of us that were working were dressed casually all weekend because of the heat, it was almost unbearable, one of us almost passed out on Friday night. Please leave the personal comments about my team to yourself.

I didn't think the heat was unbearable. I thought the weather was nice and it was good to be in some warm weather instead of the damp, cool weather we've been having. My dad said that last year on Sunday it was cold and he had to wear a jacket cuz it was so windy...so I think the weather was alot better this year. I think the dry climate got to everyone....I know me and my girls were sluggin water all weekend long.

Anywayz....

I heard Red Rock Crossing for the first time at Macy this year..they gave us the best contest song I've danced to all summer up until Morongo. Jade and Lloyd can really kick out a good song!!!

Does anyone remember the results of the specials they had Friday and Saturday night? I only remember all the winners in 1, and 2 winners in the other...lol.

The specials the committee drew were:

Friday Night - Men's Southern Fancy and Women's Jingle

Southern Fancy:
1 - Joe Bointy
2 - Spike Draper
3 - Dwight Whitebuffalo
4 - Amos Yazzie
5 - Isaiah Bob

Women's Jingle:
1 - Jennifer Youngbear
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 - Grace Pushetonequa

Saturday Night - Women's Northern Walk-Around and Men's Southern Straight

Can anyone fill in the blanks?

Oh come on, I agree it was hot and dusty but people were in buckskins in the day time including 70+ women, men wore jeans including both AD's, and you couldn't wear a pair of jeans or capris? Your short shorts were disgusting. quit making excuses for yourself.

I agree. If a committee has given someone the honor of "working" for their powwow, (and paying big bucks to boot) then you could at least show them a little respect and dress accordingly. Yes it was hot, but it was hot for everybody working that powwow, they all dressed nice in pants, long sleeve shirts, etc. How you conduct yourself and how you look goes a long way when your involved on a committee. Just because it's hot, is no excuse to look like a slob, for everyone to see.
Same goes for those drum groups, they should always show their respect for the drum by dressing respectfully. Unfortunately most of them look like slobs sitting there and if I were a drum judge, that would be a deduction BIG TIME! Apparently the old way of wearing your best to the drum has gone out the window. Sad to say, but most of these younger generation singers today taught themselves to sing, which obviously means they have no clue about respecting that drum and it shows. Yeah they can sing, but they look a mess!!

It's also very disrespectful for our men to see you like that. Why don't you put your shorts back on and look in a mirror at your back end. It was not pretty. Maybe you will agree.
