Thumbs up 46th Annual Tecumseh Lodge Labor Day Pow Wow

This past weekend I attended the 46th Annual Tecumseh Lodge Labor Day Pow Wow held in Tipton, Indiana and had a great time!! It was a really nice pow wow. The head singer was Shawn Foye and he had a crew of about 10-12 singers, and then there were two northern drums: Kingfishers and Mackenzie River..the singing the whole weekend was nice.

I think they counted 224 dancers in grand entry on Saturday night and probably about the same on Sunday night...that's pretty dang good considering this wasn't a money pow wow. The weather couldn't have been better...it actually got chilly some both nights so that was a welcome change from the intense heat we've been having. The MC and the Arena Director both did OUTSTANDING jobs...this is a very well run pow wow and one that I'm planning to add as an annual from now on.

We did the hotel thing - my camping days are over LOL - but there are lots of nice places to camp and we were lucky enough to be invited to a nice camp for breakfast and dinners...thanks powwowbum49!! This was my third pow wow ever in that area and I've met some very nice people and got to meet even more this past weekend. Some other highlights would be the gourd dancing (four sessions) and the craft contest.

If you're looking for a good, family style pow wow on Labor Day, check out Tecumseh Lodge dance in Tipton, IN.

I stopped in on the way home from rosebud fair. I have been going fo rthe past 3 years. yes it is a 700 mile drive but the long weekend and many friends make it worthwhile.

i was singing with some friends (mackenzie river) who always test my ability to pick up those cree songs.

had to leave sunday afternoon cause the wife had to work on tuesday.

Saw bum and mocs but didnt get to talk much, never do.

I feel bad I had to miss this dance. Instead my hubby and I were in Yellowstone and in the Tetons celebrating out first wedding anniversary. Hope to show up at Tipton next year!
