Cherokee July 4 Powwow
I think it is a sad sad day when Diamond Brown stands on the stage and flips off the Tsalagi Warriors society as they do grand entry on Saturday. If he has issues with any of the members why do that in a public place?? GROW UP MR. BROWN and get a life. Take your issues elsewhere.

Really I know Diamond personally and I can't believe he would do something like that without there being an extremely good reason for it, or maybe you show wrong.

What difference does it make WETHER he felt someone was honorable enough. To do that in front of a crowd of thousands is disrepectful in the least. I saw it. It was a childish thing to do. What I am trying to wrap my thought around here is where Diamond Brown feels he is the voice of WHOM is honorable and who is not, considering the source. If he has issues with someone then he should have taken it up in another venue besides in public before a grand entry. There is no good reason to do what he did before a Color Guard, "extremely" or otherwise, some things are just plain wrong and that was an example. He made himself out to be a fool. Anyway... Does anyone know who the winners were? I had to work Sunday and could not be there. Last edited by PappyRoach; 07-07-2008 at 09:00 PM.. Reason: Grammar |

I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around him doing that. No, I don't argree with it at all, but I am curious as to the reason for it.

It was a very dishonorable thing to do, but nothing new I guess. I have heard from several of the Elders in attendance and a few respected members of EBCI who saw he do this that they were outright insulted by his behavior . I am sure you can understand some things are best not to do in a public gathering.
As a veteran in atendance there on Saturday I found his behavior rude and socially unacceptable, especially when you take into consideration he directed this towards the Color Guard and a member thereof on July 4th weekend. |

Yes, many saw it as disrespectful. It matters NOT who he felt did not need to be in the honor guard. The Tsalagi Warriors Society HAND PICKED each member and obviously they felt that each member was honorable enough. The same ones who carried the staff and flags for the 1pm grand entry carried it for the 7pm grand entry. It looks like Diamond Brown's opinion was not worth two cents to any of them. I just know there are alot of people (including elders) upset and hurt over his behavior and I for one fine it VERY uncalled for. This is not going to die down lightly, maybe a bit of public humiliation will do Mr. Brown some good ... and THAT is why I brought it here Ms. Arneach.

On a happier note, the music over the weekend was outstanding!! Host drums Black Lodge and Otter Trail both did excellent jobs! Other drums in attendance included: Awohali, Birdtown Crossing, Black Bear, Red Boyz, Southern Eagle, and Maza Kute.
Some results I can remember (hope I got the right order): Men's Grass - 1st - Micah Swimmer 2nd - don't remember 3rd - Ben Sanchez Men's Fancy - 1st - Eric Bird 2nd - Gabe Bullock 3rd - Daniel Tramper Men's Traditional - 1st - guy in moptop from Maza Kute 2nd - Will Tushka 3rd - Tony Walkingstick Men's Straight - 1st - Echohawk Neconie 2nd - Hoss Tramper 3rd - Ray Silva Women's Fancy - 1st - Shebabe Hodge don't know the rest Women's Northern Traditional - 1st - Melissa Montoya 2nd - Nikki Crisp Specials - Daniel Marvin French Memorial Fancy Dance - Josh Hill Men's Smoke Dance - Jackie Ross Women's Smoke Dance - Tooter Owens Grass - Micah Swimmer Fancy Shawl - Shebabe Hodge That's all I can remember LOL

whatever his reason, he did it.
like others said, maybe he should have talked to who he had problems with... and for here, should talk to him if you have problems with him... no it may not have been the right place to do that, seeing as there were elders and children around.... |

I have no problem with him. I have a problem with his childish behavior. Yes, it should have been taken up with the person he had issues with instead of him showing his *** on stage like that and disrespecting everyone who saw what happened. I wrote into the Cherokee Times about the whole issue, I feel that Diamond Brown needs to be held accountable for his actions. Maybe a little public humiliation to let people know what he has done and how disrespectful he acted towards veterans will teach him a lesson in humility?? He has trashed so many good people in Cherokee and not one person has stood up and said a thing about it. I am tired of sitting back and allowing it to continue. If he wants to point fingers then fine, he can also be accountable for his own behavior. Let's hope Joe Martin will address the issue in next weeks rants and raves. I am not the only one who has written in about it.

I want go into details that's, not my place, but I can tell you want he done had nothing to do with the guard or the vets it was with one man that had done Diamond and his family very wrong. After finding out the story I don't feel Diamond was in the wrong BUT I DO NOT think he should have done it on stage.
I think b4 ppl start ranting about something that happens the should have the facts b4 assuming and annoucing that it was directed toward someone that it was not. The have been thru enough, many he's girls, to have to go thru a big public to do over a misundertanding and a bad judgment call. Instead of handling it this way someone should pull he to the side and have a talk with him about happen. I just don't want to see he's girl go thru anymore stuff than needed.

To use an old adage. When you point the finger of blame there are 3 more pointed back at you. If his children are going through difficult times it may very well be because he himself is a big cause of them. MAny here see that even if he chooses to turn a blind eye to it and blame others.
It is all of his own choosing. Nuff said... Last edited by PappyRoach; 07-09-2008 at 10:13 PM.. |

And you only got one side of the story. NOTHING was done to Diamond Brown or his family. He has been saying the same thing for years against several families on the reservation and none of his claims have been proven even by the police dept. All the people he has accused of stealing his identity and booking shows in his name have never once been found guilty WHY??? Because he has never provided the police with any evidence of even ONE of his claims. People are seeing the true man and he finally showed all of Cherokee who he really is and well, there is now a public outcry. It is about time that he is being seen for the true man he is. I SALUTE Mr. Diamond Brown .... the same way he did our warriors society!

just a suggestion...if your gonna name a thread "Cherokee July 4th Powwow" could it ACTUALLY be about the powwow.
As for what happened i didnt see it, never even heard mention of it until i clicked on this thread, & to tell you truth i really dont give a s**t...lol. so he flipped the bird to somebody, big fu****g deal. I mean, c'mon people, he had a lapse in judgement. some of you on here act like its never happened to you. time to get to the REAL reason for this thread. this was the best "stage" powwow we have had...lol. dont know if thats a good or a bad thing. good feelings all weekend. good singing, good dancing. even tho most of the dancers were prolly sore as hell afterwards...lol. good turnout overall, surprisingly...ah, who am i kidding, i am extremely surprised it didnt outrite suck like memorial day did...lol. Blacklodge & Ottertrail sounded damn good! good turnout for singing contest in both categories. Glad Maza Kute came out all the way from Nebraska. It was good to see awohali set up somewhere....anywhere....LOL!!!!

![]() It is niave or ridiculous to expect that everything that gets posted here to be strictly the criteria that you expect. These forums are a sounding board for various subjects and ideas. And just because it did not pass your muster does not make it immaterial. And just because you did not see what transpired does not make it less important, what the fool did was uncalled for and if the GWYLegend chooses to bring it on this forum then so be it. If you wish not to have to listen or read what is written you always have the option to go elsewhere to other posts. What I find petty is your childish use of profanity to downplay what someone else obviously found important enough to them to write. Try to practice a bit of maturity the next time you feel the need to unleash some bombast OK? Thanks. GWYLegend, I too took offense as well as many others not on this site. Wait til next tuesday, get a copy of the new Cherokee Times and I bet there will be a literal flood of comments about what happenend in the Rants and Raves section |

pappyroach you talk about walmart needing maturity, when you just mention that come next week the rants and raves will have a lot of comments in there!!! you know those aren't going to be mature at all!!!!
like you said anyone can come on here and say whatever, and you don't have to read it he came on here and said what he wanted to and you get snippy to him???!!! If what Diamond did was so important, why did legend not go talk to Diamond????? get it settled then and there??? |
