Hey everyone! what's up? Not much here, waiting for the day after Thanksgiving sales, not Thanksgiving because everyone I know will be home, you know how it gets with so many native women in one kitchen? lol. see who cooks the best and bragging rights, makes me want to burn the turkey! kidding. For real, I rather be shopping with my baby girl and husband. Need to get some deals for Christmas.

Haven't heard anything on the news, been avoiding it lately. I got stress to deal with already dealing with finals coming up, but lately the scoop is what will the Democrats do with the troops and all. We got a family member in Iraq again, he's out of Fort Hood, TX. I was silent on Veteran's Day, just let the day go by, relax a little. NSB, so what's up with you? E-7 yet? I laugh at my best friend, she got stationed at San Clemente Island off the coast of Cali. She's gonna hit E-6 soon and still single too. Not much news in my location, just getting the grades and taking care of my family. You all take care now, that's all the post I got for today. Be careful out there on the roads!

Well, it looks like the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Vicenza, Italy, as well as Bamberg and Schweinfurt in Germany, will be part of the next rotation of troops slated to begin arriving early next year in Iraq.

Some soldiers from the unit have spent two of the last four years serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, though most Sky Soldiers are new to the unit.

Other units heading to Iraq as part of the next rotation are:

Division headquarters, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort Stewart, Ga.
4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, out of Fort Riley, Kan.
4th Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, out of Fort Lewis, Wash.
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.
1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, out of Fort Bragg, N.C.

My son is with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and if he goes, this will be his third tour of duty.

Techno, I could only say prayers and give hugs, it's hard to wish someone off when it comes to deployment. You don't know what to say, but stay safe and watch your back. We are proud of him as for everyone else who's been there and back.

NSB-love your icon, it's cute!

Annie-yeah, learned my lesson on Thanksgiving, not going to do that if I want to enjoy Christmas. LOL.

I'm bored and out of ideas, I get writer's block once every year on out first snow day.........so I'll be back later.

Unhappy Thought someone should know

N.D. Tribe Barring Church Protesters

Published: 12/2/06, 7:45 AM EDT
By JAMES MacPHERSON

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A church group that protests at military funerals around the country will be barred from services for an American Indian soldier on a reservation, tribal officials say.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., planned to demonstrate at National Guard Cpl. Nathan Goodiron's funeral on Saturday at the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.

Church members say the deaths of soldiers are punishment from God for the country's tolerance of homosexuals.

Tribal leaders passed a resolution Friday that prohibits the group from protesting on the reservation, said Marcus Wells Jr., chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes.

"We will not tolerate any harassment that is intended to provoke ill feelings and violence," he said.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of the Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., pastor of Westboro Baptist, said her group planned to protest outside the reservation "on public rights of way."

"We don't get into anyone's private area," said Phelps-Roper, the church's attorney and its spokeswoman. "We don't go on private land."

Goodiron, 25, of Mandaree, known on the reservation as Young Eagle, was killed Thanksgiving Day in Afghanistan when a grenade struck his vehicle while he was on patrol. He was a member of the 1st Battalion of the North Dakota National Guard's 188th Air Defense Artillery.

Tribal officials said he was the first member of the Three Affiliated Tribes to be killed in the war on terror.

American and tribal flags are being flown at half staff on the reservation to honor Goodiron.

"We recognize and respect the right to free speech and the public's right to assemble, but we want everyone to know that the Three Affiliated Tribes, as a sovereign tribal government, has the right to regulate any person or persons who harass and show disrespectful conduct towards our members, within our boundaries," Wells said in a statement.

Wells said tribal police would prevent the protesters from coming on the reservation.

I'm right there with you Annie, these churchgoers can believe anything they want....bible, God or not.........but when it comes to Indian beliefs they need to keep that s**t off our grounds. That's one thing that makes me mad is stupid idiology and imposing it on others.

Anyway, hey it was my birthday on Saturday! I want to send a shout out to myself and my dad, who's birthday was on Sunday. I'm not gonna tell ya'll how old I am, just know I'm a year old. Women are pretty sensitive about that issue.

I spent my birthday shopping for others, but I'm glad it's over. Today was my finals in Spanish...........THANK GOD IT'S OVER! I got two more to go. Anyone sending a care package this Christmas, if so it's too late to send it to get there in time. I still haven't send my cards out, thinking of just emailing them. Cheap and fast.

Welcome to the south Nndsoldierboy! Now as SOON as you see misqueto repellant on the shelves buy as much as you can! Gnats have been known to show up as early as March, the hunidty in the south is similar to breathing in water at times so be prepared. Good news is you rarely ever see snow in the south and it doesn't get very cold compared to New York. Go visit the Choctaw Rez down on the coast if you get a chance. My dad was born there.
Too bad they didn't send you to Ga. atleast in Ga. we could have offered you a home cooked meal every now and then.

Awwww, damn that sucks. I heard stories of sailors sent to Mississippi for schools and they ride in there with a small two engine planes, don't quote me on this, but "sometimes flying in on a glider or they fly right over and hope you parachute makes it to the base." LOL! NB-you will learn to adapt of course and enjoy flat frybreads! So did you have an option or they just said, "here soldier, take it or leave it!" My sister has in-laws that way, they make a trip out there every year and she tells me stories of gnats, frogs, and bugs. Unlike the Southwest, here we have to deal with rain, sleet, and wind. It's an all weather state. Enjoy your stay!!

uh, I wouldn't be jumping out of any planes and hopeing to hit the right area down there. Those swamps like La, and Fla. have some pretty nasty gators in them.

173rd's Sky Soldiers headed back to Afghanistan, not Iraq

Update: The 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team will be heading downrange a little earlier than expected. And instead of going to Iraq, the Sky Soldiers will be heading back to Afghanistan in the spring.

It's pretty damn complicated what is going on these days with politics and all, but the latest news as far as CNN was that their focus is on the border mountains. I'm always watching the news to hear about the latest in Iraq and Afghan. My only worries are what is the future of our military and what is being done for our veterans. Not to be a sore thorn, but there was a report on the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. That hospital was so old, dingy and needed maintenance bad that Senator John McCain is advocating to get a new hospital for our injured servicemen. I think alot about that and it bothers me and saddens me that, we see more wounded given the "welcome home" speech and forgotten and left to deal with the effects of war. What I would like to see in my own nation is for our nation to not just give parades and articles in the news for the servicemen, BUT REALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT BENEFITS! What can we give in return for them? Is our poilticians gonna build any place of treatment for our veterans. I'm sharing my concerns with everyone, because I too have experienced the shame of my nation to be shunned when I ask for help. It is happening everyday and given a number to come back later only to be told there is no funds, there is no manpower, there is no facilities, not enough resources! I say b.s. and urge anyone who reads this that you'll understand our warriors are returning sick, battered and need assistance. Don't just tell them they are heroes and keep on walking. It's hard to say, but even though giving thanks is good, deep inside they are hurting far worse and crying out for help. Write letters to your councils, don't be afraid to call them, they are there to hear your concerns. IF you get the same record played over and over, keep bothering until you get results. I'm just writing this, because it's realistic and embarrassing on our political leaders part to ask us to volunteer for the sake of our nation and give nothing back.
Thanks for your time.
