There's two branches Army National Guard and Air National Guard. I was the latter... its a division of the Air Force. (GO AIR FORCE! aye!!) All us Air Force peeps go thru the same basic training and when we're put in action, we work along side by side w/active duty seamlessly. aye...

Plus we usually get Free Tuition to all state colleges. FYI. :)

101rst Special Forces Communications Liason, HOME FROM IRAQ!

It would be nicer if I didn't have to be on the injured list, but home is home. Minor, very embarrassing, but at least minor.

Welcome home WolfsBird! Maybe when you're over the embrassment you could tell us how you got your wound,:D .
You're home alive and thats all that matters. Perhaps you can fill us in on whats going on there.
Read the paper the other day and Bush is going to lower combat pay and extra pay for dependents whose h.o.f. is in the war zone.:Mad .
Seems as though he doesnt have the money to pay for his war. He is giving tax cuts here and there, where is he going to get the money to fight this war.
I guess you've noticed I'm against this war. I cant understand why Bush wants to send our brothers and sisters to the four winds and fight all these wars. Iraq, Afganistan, Bosnia, Liberia(oops, they're just peacekeepers). Picking a fight with the North Koreans too. I don't see his point. You know, theres alot of issues that need fixing here at home. We have a 7% unemployment rate here in South Carolina. I havent seen him do a damn thing to create any jobs anywhere.
I think with some diplomacy and open respectful dialouge with the Muslims we could have avoided alot of this trouble. Wheather we care to admit it or not, they have serious issues with the US government and some of this issues are legitament.
But I guess thats what we get for having a cowboy for President.
I think we should pull our brothers and sisters out and let the damn Iraquis figure it out for themselves. I'm sick for hearing of our bros. and sisters being killed there. So WolfBird, I am really happy that you are back home. I'm proud of you.

Rumor has it he got his butt burned!

A friend of ours fell off one of the trucks, and in trying to catch himself from falling somehow shattered the entire underneath of his shoulder socket, he is headed to Texas today to have surgery and have his whole shoulder socket replaced.

It is a shame that this war has happened, but we are not trying to get Korea riled, they are doing that on their own, they always have to rattle their swords to scare us, then be embarrassed because it just won't work! Saddam started this war as well, but I still think it could have been handled in a different way.

This Bush just isn't his father, that man would have handled things better. This one is trying to fill those shoes and they are just too big for him. I will not vote for him. I did not and do not like Gore, and am glad he decided not to run again, we will just have to see what other choices we will be given.

Welcome home WolfsBird hope to hear of you up and about soon!

:) No I managed to keep my butt down. No bullet burn there!

I twisted my back when I got tangled up trying to jump out of a jeep. But yeah I did land on my "butt".

I can't tell what my group is doing, sorry. But can tell you more is going on that you know about. Also we have found more evidence that Saddam was worse monster than first thought if you can belive that. Most people are glad we are there, just hoping we won't take over like has happened to us!

What is going on with services? I don't know and probably won't for awhile. We will just have to see. Sorry I can't be of more help. right now I've got too much of a buzz to think straight

Yo Feathers, being from Tennersee dont make you a hick. Living in the Cherokee foothills of SC here. Besides, what wrong with hicks, some damn fine fellers.
Been hunting and fishing here last few days. Got eight squirrels and sixteen fish. Some brims and a couple of three pound cats. Eating good here you bet!
Yep, I be buzzin too, WolfsBird. Take in a nice deep toke for me kola, you deserve it.
I didnt vote for W, and I don't plan on it either. May I suugest:
Sitting Bull for President!!! .
The slant you get from network news make you think that the Iraquis don't want us around. But if you fellers who have been there say differently, then I'll take your word for it. I just think Bush is going to do a half assed job and get our boys killed. Sorry, but I can't help thinking that I've seen this situation before,
like back in the sixties. Started out with just advisors and we stayed for ten years and didnt accomplish shyt. See you-all later. Gotta roll a bone.:D

There are some who would most likely say I do not deserve to be here, I don't know. I was in the Marines as reserve in high school then active duty for only a year before an ear drum was nearly destroyed. But I do have the paperwork to prove myself if I have to. But speak up please! ;)

I got tired of teaching American History to kids who don't care, they don't want to know about alternatives to what the books say, and I'm tired of fighting with them, the parents, and the school boards over it.

I'm going back to school myself, gonna take art, maybe teach that to little kindergarteners, or not, maybe just for ME!!

Feathers, you don't need to prove yourself to anyone. It doesn't matter wether you served 1 year or 10 years, wether you served during war or peacetime you are still a veteran. You can hold your head high, look the rest of us eye to eye as we say, Welcome Home Brother

Sounds like you are living the good life EagleShield!!!! At least your stomache is!!!! Man eat some for me.!!!

I would like to honor my two grandfathers, uncle, and father in the Veteran's Circle.

Maternal grandfather served in WWII, Airforce. He did numerous bomb raids and his crew is one of but a few who NEVER suffered any casualties the entire war.

My paternal grandfather served in WWII in the Navy. His two sons (my uncle--non-combat service, and my father for six years during the Viet Nam period) also served proud in the Navy. I have all their dog tags and I keep them in a place of honor.

Please, add me to the list of non-supporters to this "war". Anyone who knows me from here knows I've run my mouth about it plenty, gotten into some heated debates, but came away feeling more convinced in what I believe.

Cool New Here

Hello, I'm new here and I'm glad you started this group. I am a Navy Veteran of four years and then followed an ex around with the Army for another 10 years or so. Guess I have seen the military from all the angles except the men's latrine.:Angel2 Anyway I agree that Lori deserved more respect. Yea, WolfsBird it is always more than what you see at home, eh!

Traci, thank you for honoring us with your grandfathers memories.
Too many of "the greatest generation" are dying everyday, and sadly they take their stories with them. It is up to us to preserve their history and remember their sacrifices so we may properly honor them for generations to come. My own grandfather served in WWII in the Navy in Admiral Halsey's Third Fleet. My other grandfather was a Sergeant Major in the United States Army, serving for 25 years in the infantry. They have both passed some time ago, but I remember all their stories and the wisdom they shared with me. I look foward to sharing these things with my own children some day.

Well said Hi speed!!!!! I have found both things occuring in my own family.

My great, great gandfather was a confederate soldier in the civil war. I also have great grandfathers that served that served in the Army in WWI, WWII. I know little about them, but I'm trying very hard to change that.

My grandfather served 3 tours in Korea and 3 tours in Vietnam.

My father served in the army in Germany, during the build-up there, at end of the Vietnam war.

My father; by adoption served in the 1st gulf war, not long before he retired.

I'm very proud of my military heritage. And although I never originally planned to join the military, the creator had different ideas for my. After serving my country for 6 years I'm thankful for the experience and knowledge I gained.

:D Feathers, quit feling sorry for yourself, lol. Well, fun time is over. Back to reality and the daily grind. Traci your maternal grandfather must have had a helper spirit sitting on his shoulder. Sounds like a very fortunate man.
So, what do you all think about the bomb at the Nato headquarters in Baghdad? I have the feeling this is just the start of it. Heard Al- Quida is taking credit for the blackout last week. How knows? Could have sent a virus thru the computer.
I'd like to thank all the new verterans who have posted on this thread. I'd like to suggest tha if anyone knows of any Natives in the war zone who can access a computer once in a while to ask them to let us know what is going on. I don't know about you, but I'd like to hear the word straight from the horses mouth.
Have a great evening everyone.
