Chief David Beautiful Bald Eagle

Dances With Wolves Star And D-Day Veteran Chief David Bald Eagle died at his home based on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota on July 22.

Born in a tepee in 1919, David was the grandson of Chief White Bull who fought the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876.

The Native American fought for the US army in WW2, during the landing at Anzio in Italy where he won the silver star.

He parachuted into Normandy during D-Day, but was badly wounded by oncoming German fire.
