Louie Foote

In loving memory of Louie Foote (Hunkpapa Lakota). Lew Foote 66 years old from the Bullhead community of the Standing Rock Reservation, began his journey to the spirit world on Thursday March 29, 2012. He was an Instructor of language and cultural arts, a fluent first speaker of the Lakota and Dakota dialects and keeper of over 200 songs. He and his family are the advisory elders who have dedicated their entire lives to language, singing, spirituality, the cultural arts and dance including activism for Native rights in the Twin Cities. His family will continue after him to pass on valuable cultural teachings in the Lakota/Dakota community.

My sincere condolences to the family, relatives, and friends. I got an opportunity to sing with Louie several times. He will be deeply missed by me and my family and many in the Native American Community.
