Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin is poised to be the NBA rookie of the year. He is not a true rookie because he sat out last year with surgery to his knee cap. However he played as a rookie in Friday nights NBA rookie/sophomore challenge.

Griffin went to my alma matter (as did Cherokee Heisman winner and NFL Rookie of the Year quarterback Sam Bradford). Last night Blake won the NBA slam dunk championship by jumping over a car! NBA : Ball Don't Lie - Yahoo! Sports Blog He has become a super dunk star through many of this year's NBA highlight reels.

Tonight he will be the first rookie since Yao Ming to play in the NBA All Star Game. Sports analysts all agree he is a special player at age 21.

The tickets I purchased to go see him play are $189 (x2) but I think he will be worth the price! I am a total Blake Griffin fan and record all his games. Maybe he will ieave the LA Clippers and join a team that will contend for a NBA championship?

What do you think of this young NBA star? The real deal or all hype?

The kid is GOOOOOD!!! LOL

We get to see a lot of the Clippers highlights on the local news. (Not that the Clippers have a lot of highlights). We also get some of the home games telelvised. Unfortunately, they lives in the same house as the Lakers. Barring injuries, he'll be around for a while.

Just watched an interview where he was asked whose idea it was to use the car. Said it was his. And using the Crenshaw Choir??? Can I get an AMEN! hahahaaaa

$100 ticket? You gonna be sitting next to Jack Nicholson?

Wave when the camera goes by you. I'll be watching the game in front of my 20" TV!

Joe,

I hope you have good eyes. I won't be sitting anywhere near Jack. Me, Peewee Herman and Urkel will be sitting in the nosebleed section.

I saw that dunk on TV - UNBELIEVABLE!!!

From what I've heard he is an upstanding young man, in addition to be an awesome ball player!

I think he's a physical freak and plays like a young Karl Malone.

I, also, think the difference between what he is now (which is good) versus being truly special is the development of a fifteen foot jump shot.

Eventually, Malone became deadly to leave open from as far away as eighteen feet which opened up his drive/finish/get fouled game when defenders sagged off him: as they'll start doing to Griffin until he develops a shot.

Of course he's great, his mom is Irish! LOL Leprechaun power!

His dad is of Haitian background, and African-american.

He is very quick and coordinated at 6'10", plays "D" and rebounds too!

Joe's Dad 02-21-2011 03:33 AM

Charles Barkley says when Blake Griffin learns to play basketball, he's going to be great!

Joe's Dad 02-21-2011 03:36 AM

But alas, he's playing in the shadows of one of the greatest players in NBA history...

Kobe

Congratulations on winning your fourth All-Star MVP!!!

Joe,

Kobe IS the star of today. He proved it last night when he tied the record for most MVPs of an NBA All Star Game. Kobe IS my current favorite NBA player.

I had this same feeling about Kobe that I do about Blake Griffin, when Kobe was first drafted. According to Yahoo Sports, "Bryant said he knows the future of the league was represented on the court (last night). And knows itís only a matter of time before Los Angeles belongs to Griffin."

Wow! Even Kobe knows how great Griffin is going to be.

I agree with Zeke. Griffin's "a physical freak!"

Everyone is talking about the dunk over the car which was cool but HELLO! The guy did a 360 degree slam dunk! That was AWESOME!

WhoMe 02-24-2011 10:08 AM

It looks like the OKC's Durant and Westbrook had Blakes number? The OKC duo made him have to sit out due to foul trouble. But Blake still outscored them!
