I have to pick the Royals. My old Platoon Sergeant during my time at the 10th Mountain Division is from KC. We served together in Iraq 2005-06 and I used to give him hell about the Royals back in the day.

Bushmaster 2-4, out.

Well, as disappointed as I am that the Giants won, It was a great series. This final game was one of the best I have seen in a long time, to the last out.

Hats off to the Royals; with Cain running 20 miles per hour rounding 3rd,and with two pitchers back to back throwing over 100 mph consistently, they had a great chance at the series.

that bum-gardener dominated LOL

So, I'm happy to pieces the Giants one. Bumgarner just rocked it. What an amazing pitcher. I've never seen an ERA. of .025 before.

Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber win Cy Young awards

The question heading into the 2014 Cy Young Award reveal Wednesday was "Clayton Kershaw and who else?"

The answer: Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians, who edged Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners. Kershaw, of course, won his second straight NL Cy Young, but that didn't have nearly the drama of the AL award.

Kluber earned 17 of the 30 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers Association of America. Hernandez was second with 13 first-place votes. They were separated by 10 overall points, 169 to 159. Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox finished third.

On the NL side, the question was whether Kershaw, the Los Angeles Dodgers ace, would get all 30 first-place votes. Last season, he was one short of a unanimous win.

There were no doubters this season. Kershaw received all 30 first-place nods. Johnny Cueto of the Cincinnati Reds finished second with 23 second-place votes and Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals was third with seven second-place votes. Either of the other two finalists would be a fine Cy Young winner in a different season, but Kershaw was simply too good in 2014.

Kershaw finished 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA. He struck out 239 batters in 198.1 innings. It was enough for Kershaw's 2014 campaign to be considered one of the best ever by a pitcher. All that despite Kershaw missing five weeks because of a back injury at the start of the season.

Not only is this Kershaw's second straight Cy Young, but it's his third in the last four years. And he's still just 26. In fact, he's the only pitcher to win three Cy Young awards at 26.

In the AL, things really came down to a strong finish. Kluber posted a 1.90 ERA in his final 16 starts. His numbers got stronger as Hernandez's Cy Young case started to weaken. Kluber finished the season 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA and 269 strikeouts. He led the AL in wins and was second in strikeouts.

Kluber also has surprise on his side. He's a 28-year-old who exceeded even the highest expectations anyone had for him at the start of the season, thanks to increased confidence, more experience and a nasty slider. In 2013, his first full season, Kluber was 11-5 with a 3.85 ERA.

A year later, he's the Cy Young winner.

Trout unanimously wins AL MVP; Donaldson finishes eighth

NEW YORK -- Mike Trout was a unanimous winner of the American League's Most Valuable Player award after consecutive second-place finishes.

The Los Angeles Angels center fielder received all 30 first-place votes and 420 points in balloting announced Thursday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. At 23, he became the fifth-youngest MVP in major league history.

Detroit designated hitter Victor Martinez was second with 229 points and Cleveland outfielder Michael Brantley third with 185.

A's third baseman Josh Donaldson received one second-place vote, two third-place votes, two fourth-place votes, three sixth-place votes, three seventh-place votes, six eight-place votes, five ninth-place votes and two 10th-place votes for a total of 96 points to place him eighth behind Trout, Martinez, Brantley, Jose Abreu, Jose Bautista, Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz, respectively.

Trout hit .287 and set career highs in home runs (36) and RBIs (111) while leading the major leagues in runs with 115 and extra-base hits with 84. In his third full season, he matched his bests in doubles (39) and triple (nine). He also was MVP of the All-Star game in July.

"It's something special, for sure," Trout said on the MLB Network telecast. "If you would have told me this before the season started, I would have just laughed at you. It's just an unbelievable feeling."

Trout was a unanimous pick as the 2012 AL Rookie of the Year and was second in MVP voting to Detroit's Miguel Cabrera in both of his first two full seasons, 81 points back in 2012 and 103 points behind last year. He joined Mickey Mantle as the only players to win after finishing second twice in a row.

At 23 years, 52 days on the final day of the regular season, Trout is younger than all MVPs except Vida Blue (1971), Johnny Bench (1970), Stan Musial (1943) and Cal Ripken Jr. (1983), according to STATS. Musial, Bench and Blue were 22, and Ripken was 23 years, 39 days.

He is the third Angels player to win after Don Baylor (1979) and Vladimir Guerrero (2004).

Baseball Hall of Fame voters elect four: Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, Craig Biggio

Congrats on making the HoF.

Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio have reached baseball immortality. They will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July, after the Baseball Writers Association of America announced Tuesday that the four of them earned the necessary votes for Cooperstown.

This is the third time in history that the BBWAA has elected four players. The others were 1947 and 1955. Had one more player reached the 75-percent threshold, it would have been the largest BBWAA class since 1936, when the first Hall of Fame vote enshrined Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson.

Johnson and Martinez, two dominant pitchers on the ballot for the first time, were elected easily, earning 97.3 percent of the vote and 91.1 percent, respectively. Smoltz, another first timer who was dominant as both a starting pitcher and a closer, received 82.9 percent. This was Biggio's third time on the ballot. He missed Cooperstown by two votes in 2014, but earned 82.7 percent of the vote this time, thanks in large part of those 3,000 hits he compiled.

Mike Piazza was believed to have a shot to make it this year, but he finished with 69.9 percent. Of the remaining players on the ballot this time, the next closest to reaching the magic 75-percent threshold were: Jeff Bagwell (55.7), Tim Raines (55) and Curt Schilling (39.2). See the entire rundown of results at the BBWAA website.

A few other notable results from the 549 ballots cast by BBWAA members:

None of the players most closely tied to PEDs has swayed enough voters yet. Barry Bonds (36.8), Roger Clemens (37.5), Mark McGwire (10) and Sammy Sosa (6.6) still aren't close to reaching the Hall of Fame, but Bonds and Clemens were up slightly this year. We'll wrestle with that moral dilemma of the PED era for at least one more year, and probably more.

Don Mattingly, who was in his final year of eligibility, received 9.1 percent of the vote. He'll have to depend on the veteran's committee to put him in the Hall of Fame, but even that doesn't seem too likely.

The most notable player who didn't get the 5 percent vote necessary to remain on the ballot for next year is Carlos Delgado, who earned 3.8 percent, or 21 votes.

Also worth noting: Biggio will be the first player to be enshrined as a member of the Houston Astros. Johnson, if he chooses either the Arizona Diamondbacks or Seattle Mariners, would be the first player enshrined as a member of either team.

Watched the Braves lose to the Yanks today in preseason-like that was a surprise. LOL! Can't wait for Opening Day.

Ichiro was free agent. I believe he left cause Jeter is gone now. So, no need to be with the Yankees anymore and he is going where the money is.

6 April 2015, opening day the New York Yankees at home against the Toronto Blue Jays. AL east division rival.

Masahiro Tanaka is our starting pitcher. I hope he does good. He pitched well last season, but got hurt.

Go Yankees!
