Police break up fights at Narragansett powwow

Charlestown, Rhode Island (AP)

Tribal police are investigating what caused several fights the weekend at the Narragansett Tribe’s annual powwow.

Tribe Police Sgt. Edward McQuaide said several fights flared Aug. 10 at the end of the two-day gathering on the tribe’s land in Charlestown. The cause of the altercations was not clear, but at least one was a family dispute.
