> Indian Summer: The Oka Crisis is fiction based on headline news events
that
> took place in the summer of 1990 in the town of Oka, near Montreal
(Quebec),
> Canada. The actual events drew global attention placing Native rights
issues

>
> In the largest deployment of Canadian troops since the Korean War,
Canadian

> who are protesting against the town's plans to build on Mohawk sacred
land.
> The land in question consists of a pine forest and an ancient burial
ground

> The protestors block a dirt road leading to the cemetery. The police
attack

> Mounting pressure and failed attempts to find a resolution moves the

Yeah, would like to see this. I was in college at the Institute of American Indian Arts while this happened. Several of the other students were from this area. Someone started a sacred fire circle to support this- it was kept going all day/night (can't remember how long- sigh been so long now). We even had some Australian Aborigines (sp?)come for a dance exhibition that brought gifts to the fire.
It would be nice to see if this makes down in the US- cause I have not seen any adds about it.
