Charitable Organizations Opinions Please
Hi Everyone,
I thank you in advance for taking the time read through my post and consider responding. I知 sure I値l be back with many more requests, but I値l start with one topic today. You壇 probably like an introduction before I continue. I知 new here...new to forums, in fact. It feels presumptuous to talk about myself, and I知 not too sure my name and age mean that much to anyone. I suppose if you ask, I値l answer. I知 researching the possibility of sponsoring a Native American child or family. I don稚 have any relationships with anyone I know to be Native American, so I知 turning to this forum for guidance. Are there sponsorship programs run by Native Americans? Do you have any experiences or preferences for a particular program? Bonus question: What specific programs do you hope to see more non-natives become aware of and involved in? |

I guess I did something wrong. I'm not sure if anyone saw this post or if there was a problem with the way I worded it. Here's more of a back story to my question.
My husband was born in a third world country. His mom was sponsored by a program that provided her with the opportunity to continue her education past sixth grade and eventually college. She worked at a radio station where she met my father-in-law. My husband and I now sponsor a child from his home town through Compassion International. Our family has made sponsorship a priority because of the impact it's had in our lives. With the knowledge of what colonization has done to the lives of indigenous people in my husband's homeland, we realize that some people indigenous to the U.S. are living a near-third-world experience as well. We're also becoming more aware of the fight to obtain justice for missing and murdered indigenous women. If anyone has a preference for an organization that is run by and for Native Americans, I would appreciate some information. Our family is looking for a cause that truely supports indigenous people in the U.S. I appreciate your time and thoughts. Please forgive me if I'm going about this wrong. |
