What do you think?

last weekend i went to a lecture on energy and thought and the like.

one of the things he talked about was how Sage was not as powerful as it once was, and was told so by several Native folks, which he didn't say what tribal affiliation.

what do you think? has sage lost its edge in clearing ability?

Dang, I don't know what to say to that

Sage, Sweet Grass, Tobacco, Cedar, etc those are medicine and are sacred. I don't think anything has lost it's value/strength, unless you loose the thoughts or belief in it

Just to share what I was told when it comes to medicines, the strength can be affected by a person's means of harvesting, in other words what were they feeling at the time (anger, ill feelings) and can be transfered onto the recipient if medicine is being shared. I guess be careful where you might get your medicines. I try and maintain a clean heart and clean mind when handling medicines. Morning CW

i agree that what you are thinking or feeling at the time of when you are harvesting sage or sweetgrass makes a differance. i have gotten sage from someone else and it had a differant feel, still worked.

I have been taught something similar long the lines of making things as well. No bad thoughts, feelings etc. I wouldn't want to make something and have bad energy following it around.

Bahn,

Was the lecturer American Indian? Does he/she have a ceremonial background?

Was his assumption based on scientific evidence?

.....or did he ask a couple of Natives, "So what do you think about sage nowadays?"

the lecturer was not native at all and had not participated in any ceremonies, just an interest and had friends who were "native". i think itwas more like what do you think more than anything else.

bah,

If the lecturer was trying to get a rise, it was accomplished.

If the lecturer was stating an opinion, it was accomplished.

If the lecturer was stating fact, this was not accomplished.

One of my pet peeves is when lecturers who are not Indian or attend ceremonies, lecture on Indian ceremonial subjects.

She doesn't know what she is talking about. Sage is alive and has not lost it's edge "to individuals whose ancestors have been usinging it to cleanse since pre history."

i believe you are right about getting a rise out of people, this male lefturer was not aware of my enthic background. another person asked about what he meant about sage not being potent he meant on the energenic level.

sage grows well around here too in CT.

I don't think it should matter about your ethnic background(not meaning I don't care), but whenever a person gets up and makes speeches or presentations, they should be well aware of offending their audience or speaking from where the sun don't shine. Get my meaning? Very interesting topic...hmmm.

I agree with you but I would like to add something. I overheard somewhere, either on TV or from some other source, that food is not as nutritous as it used to be. This is due to the land being overfarmed and elements in the soil be depleated. Mismanagment and not practicing crop rotation has lead to this effect. The result is our vegetables and fruits no longer have all of the nutritional value they once had.

I wonder could this be happening to the rest of our herbs and plants as well.

i have thought part of the smudge process is your intention. if you have intention to clear your house/apartment/dweling with sage (or herb or choice) that vibration may alter the efectivneness of the sage. I agee with the overfarming of certain plants. also i have gone into some stores for sage and whet was being sold wasn't sage.

I personally wouldn't go see anyone who doesn't have first hand experience in anything, (not even for a laugh or to heckle them) I don't care how big they build themselves up, it's just kind of like asking a proctologist what the best way to paint your house is
