Inditas

does anyone have recordings of them they can upload on youtube?

if you're from NM or CO you know what an indita is

but for the rest of you they are a "indo-hispanic" type of song pretty much exclusive to rural southern co or northern nm......pueblos and hispanics both do them......they usually involve hand drums,guitar/violin/accordians spanish lyrics and indian style vocables......the hand drum and vocables make it "indian"

i grew up on these types of songs.....i think i found one example but it isnt the best example and i have to find it again on youtube

anyone wanna throw in their 2cents whether they are familiar with inditas or not?

I tried to find information, but am unversed in the topic. Is this the sort of style you were talking about?

Here is some VERY interesting music that I actually enjoy! It is Mexican Peyote Music. Appearantly the Aztecs and Huichol of Mexico have been practicing the Native American Church for thousands of years!

Huichol Medicine Pouch

The Huichol beaders sell medicine pouch necklaces at many of the powwow out here.

This Sun/Moon pouch speaks of a Huichol prophecy that at the end of the world the sun will eat the moon as a sign the end is near.

Of course, this coincides with Solar Eclipses, but eventually in millions of years the sun will cool down and expand, becoming a "red giant star" and it will engulf the earth as it expands.

The necklace medallion has a pouch for peyote, or other medicinal herbs.
