Alfredo sauce

Here's a quick and simple recipe for alfredo sauce to put over pasta or veggies and it's absolutely decadent:

1/2 cup butter, melt in skillet over medium heat
1 cup heavy or whipping cream, whisk into skillet
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, fresh kind if you have it( or I used the sprinkly kind from the can and only had about 1/4 cup)
whisk in as well until melted

Optional, minced garlic - about 1 teaspoon

Make this after the pasta or veggies are already done and pour over it after everything is whisked in and the cheese is melted.

I'm going to make some right now and stir in some shrimp and pour over pasta. Yummers!!!

I tried this sauce tonight and it was a hit - added chicken meat, mushrooms and garlic that had been pre-cooked stir-fry style in some olive oil.

This one goes in the box :-)

Heh - I know that feeling. You should see my Gramma's recipes. Here's an example:

Take a piece of shortening about the size of a banty egg cut into a cupful of flour (use the big white cup with the crack on the lip), put it in the green ceramic frybread bowl and put enough apples in to cover the flour until the thrid ridge is covered. Add a splash of milk and palmful of ground sweet flag.

*grin* I know what Gramma meant - and I've spent hours translating her recipes into some kind of standard -useable- measurements.

I experiment and make new stuff the same way though.... a splash of this and a palm full of that - but my white cup is the one with the fruit carved around the rim!

That's how I had to explain to the kids on how to measure oil and popcorn for the big popcorn maker:

One coffee cup full of oil, one pop cup of popcorn, and a coffee spoon of salt.
