New blender salsa!

I tried a new variation on blender salsa for the powwow since my bfren just INSISTS that salsa have cilantro in it.

I found some great crushed tomatoes at Sam's club for like $2.30 a can (gallon size), but use any good canned crushed tomatoes.

In the blender pour a little of the juice from the tomatoes, then add the leaves of a small bunch of cilantro. Pulse the blender a little, then add some green onion cut into about 1/2 inch pieces, pulse a little more. Now add some canned green chilies. I'm prejudiced towards whole chilis that I coarsely chop. Then pulse a little more. Everything should be slightly chunky.

Pour this mixture in with the tomatoes. There's your mild salsa. For hot or medium, add some chopped jalapenos. I just dump in a can of the already chopped jalepenos, but minced fresh would be good too. You can add the jalapenos to the blender with the rest of the green stuff, just watch out for the fumes.

When I worked at Taco John's, we just dumped a large can of jalapenos into the blender and blended it for our super hot sauce. Of course we had to wear hazardous waste gear - goggles, thick gloves, and a thick apron.

I agree with your bf - salsa has to have cilantro in it. Mine also has to have corn :-)
