Hawhaw Raven's Words
Hawhaw Raven's Words
To HawHaw Raven, the Tlingkit Eagles cry over the totem of my birth. They sing of the salmon streams that are fished by bears in winter's less remembered. They are the winds of Hawhaw wrapped in a blanket, who sits and tells stories of the people to his grandson Swimming Bear by the gentle fire as the winds blow. So, Hawhaw, tell me your story again. And this time, let everyone hear it well. Bridge song over Tongass, Walk with me again, So that I can taste again the elderberry and listen to the eagle's cry. |
