I am from the extreme northeastern part of AZ, approximately thirty miles due southwest as the crow flies from the Four Corners Monument. Lived in Albuquerque back in the day, but have only been to GON twice. Mostly attend powwows near the AZ/NM border (Farmington, Shiprock, Gallup, Window Rock). Thank you for being my friend here, I don't facebook or myspace.

Oh...ok..I am not a contest person either but enjoy hitting the local powwows around the area... You are from New Mexico? I am from the albuquerque Area. Usually hit some of the locals here and only when my family members are active participants. I am also new to this messaging portion of so you are the only friend that I have on here...LOL Maybe some day I will get around to exploring and checking this oout...I am mostly on Facebook....

No, I am not a contest person, but I do the Futterwacken dance quite well! What I really meant to say is that there is no Powwow portion this year. It just so happened that this has been one where people compete and get paid out. By this year, there are no powwow sessions of any sort in the west arena. There are usually exhibitions and performances in the Main Arena as part of the Ceremonial Dances.

Just found out that the Contest Powwow has been "postponed"! IDK what that means, but it sounds like no powwow portion this year. Darn, this will have been my 10th year! Oh well ...

A good 2.5 hour drive. The Ceremonial Performances in the Main Arena is the biggest attraction followed by the Intertribal Contest Powwow in the West Arena.
