Dancers don't depend entirely on who the head staff will be, it's the money that will bring them in.
i prefer Tonkei as MC. And as for ad i'll take jonathan windy boy any day. i watch him pick judges, lots i don't know; i watch the contests and like magic when the winners are announced, they are just about what i would have picked. fair and square!

I too was there and I think all in all it was a great powwow, I do also think the party people travel and judge each other alot which mean they usually win, I was glad to see the head judge that was picked, I think he did a excellent job, he was not from the south so it was not only Oklahoma people judgeing each other, as most are related some way or the other. There was people from Texas and New Mexico that danced southern and they had a good chance. I for one hope they keep the same head staff, I think they did a great job, dont get me wrong, the usual,RG and Dale and Johnathon do a good job, but some time they take things for granted and slack off. the powwow could use a goooood tabulator tho as there were many errors as I understand. the committee did make it right tho.

I like Tonkei for Southern MC, he is pretty crazy and easy going. I like Dale for Northern because he knows how to talk to the crowd and knows alot about the northern categories(where the dances originated from, what songs represent what, etc.etc) and he does a good job of conveying that info to the crowd. I like the way he gets into the grand entry, dancing and hollering and talking in Crow..that just makes you feel like dancing and gets you into the spirit of dancing.
As for this years Kinder, it is always a good pow wow, but it was really really small. Only 3 jingle dancers, 5 fancy shawl, 5 southern buckskin.....now women's cloth and traditional was a good contest.
There were not enough drums in the southern to fill the contest, just two...so it was not a good turnout. I have seen that pow wow with several drums, two groups per category, and some awesome singing. My aunt went to Iwasil and she said it was good pow wow, but not that many dancers, especially southern....so where were they?
I heard Livingston is having a big pow wow in February and their head staff is Vince Beyl(spelling) for MC, High Noon and Northern Wind for northern hosts, Michael Roberts and Daniel Tramper for ADs, Spike Draper and Bonnie Tomahsah for HDs and still more staff being chosen. This will be awesome. The weekend after Hollywood.....Dance money 1000-800-500-300 Singing contest 2500-2000-1500-1000....who's coming? With that awesome head staff and drums, and that kind of money.....it should be good. That is a good time of year too because not too much going on elsewhere.

Yeah this should be a good one, I think Gabe will do a great job with it. We could use more big powwows down south in the "off" months anyway. Im looking forward to it, and having it after Hollywood is a great idea. It will be a nice way to kick off the year!!

Yeah, I believe it will be a great one. The tribe and the committee are anticipating a good turn out. All categories should have good compensation as well head staff and drums.

The committee has quite a few members, so there will be alot of feedback and help for this pow-wow to be a great success. The pow-wow is going to be held in celebration of the Alabama-Coushatta's Sesquicentennial Year.

Our annual pow-wow held every first weekend of June will continue.

Way to go Alabama-Coushatta, you will put you community on the map for sure, as for Gabe picking a head staff, I know he will do a great job, as he travels all the time and know how it is, he will be sure to pick up the right people and make sure all has a fair chance, I am glad to see this happening at this time also, I know it will be a great success. It is a great way to celebrate the honoring of a great time for this tribe and I cant think of a better way to celebrate.
