This would be a huge reason not to vote for Obama, and really hits to the heart of why he is so wrong on foreign policy!! Cause if this is what he brings to the table, you have got to be kidding me!!

Barack Obama, on his foreign relations experience: "Probably the strongest experience I have in foreign relations is the fact I spent four years overseas when I was a child in Southeast Asia."

Yeah, he was 10 yrs. old at the time! Again, are you kidding me??

"Obama said that as commander in chief he would remove troops from Iraq and putting them "on the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan." He said he would send at least two more brigades to Afghanistan and increase nonmilitary aid to the country by $1 billion."
One would be ill-advised to expect any MSM reporter to ask the Senator the obvious, or what should be obvious questions: if we significantly pull our troops out of Iraq and relocate some of them to Afghanistan, isn't it likely that some of the folks we are fighting in Iraq, most notably Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), will adapt to that, and we will face stiffer opposition in Afghanistan, with perhaps thousands of jihadist foreign fighters flowing there? The former Soviet Union fought a nine-plus year war in Afghanistan, suffering 15,000 troops killed before their forces withdrew in defeat. Our experience in Afghanistan has been remarkably different. In over six years of fighting in Afghanistan, as of July 17, coalition KIA numbered 563, of which 345 were American. That comprises hundreds of heartbreaking tragedies for individuals and families, but is less than 4% of the KIA the Soviets experienced. Even given that we have been there about two thirds of the time period the Soviets were, the rate at which we have suffered KIA is less than 6% of the Soviet experience.

One great indicator of inexperience in many fields is the inability to understand or even imagine that if one changes one aspect of the status quo in a process, other aspects will change in response to that change. It is why, for example, liberals were surprised in the 1990s when they championed the ‘luxury' excise tax on yachts to raise more revenue to offset the deficit, only to find that after the tax went into effect, tax receipts on yacht purchases fell - because far fewer people bought said yachts when the higher tax raised the cost. Price elasticity is not cutting edge economics, but yet the drop in demand came as a shock to those who were planning on spending the extra revenue.

Obama's two brigades might well increase our relative capabilities in Afghanistan if the other side doesn't respond in kind (and more). But does the Senator think that a drawdown in Iraq won't channel dedicated fighters to the enlarged front to the east?

Almost a year ago an AQI tape supposedly made by al-Zarqawi's successor, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, claimed that over 4,000 foreign fighters had been ‘martyred' in Iraq. If we had not been in Iraq, would these foreign fighters all have stayed home, or would Afghanistan have become the ‘single most important battlefield' and not one of the ‘two most important battlefields'?

Ayman al-Zawahiri, said in a speech , "Realities of the Conflict Between Islam and Unbelief," released by as-Sahab Media, December 2006
"I repeat what I mentioned previously: the backing of the Jihad in Afghanistan and Iraq today is to back the most important battlefields in which the Crusade against Islam and Muslims is in progress. And the defeat of the Crusaders there -- soon, Allah permitting -- will have a far-reaching effect on the future of the Muslim Ummah, Allah willing." [emphasis added]
If we withdraw substantially from Iraq before AQI is dismembered and the flow of foreign fighters choked or eliminated, and AQI and the jihad focus more intently on Afghanistan, meaning an ‘escalation' (that word Democrats like to bandy about) there, would a President Obama be willing to commit any more troops than his two brigades to that conflict as it grows progressively bloodier? How would he react to many more American and coalition KIA? There is another word Democrats like to bandy about: "quagmire.'

Perhaps ironically, Senator Obama seemed to grasp a part of the equation but doesn't have the experience to follow through on what it means. He said:

"It is my assessment that those risks are even greater if we continue to occupy Iraq and serve as a magnet for...terrorist activity..."
Well, if our continued occupation of Iraq serves as a magnet, if we withdraw from Iraq, wouldn't our occupation of Afghanistan serve as an alternative magnet? If not, why not, Senator?

More later!

Wakopataki if you want to end this war, why don't you match down there and fight against the Islam extremists. As for me, I want the so call American money spent here in American, not in a war on fear. If we have a strong defend against extremists we will be OK in the long run. We need to stop policing the world, that is not our job. We have a a lot of native issues here in the US and in Canada. We must deal with those issues and come up with solutions . I believe Barack Obama would be the best person to do that job. He is honest when dealing with issues., and he works well with groups in solving problems with government. Having this idea that we need to save the world is not our problem. But we need to work together and talk, not pick up arms. Barack Obama will be the candidate to bring all of American together.

Nishnawbe10 cute, but you are still talking points, prove he's what he says he is! You have not answered ANYTHING AT ALL!
If you don't think that we are at war right now, FOR THIS COUNTRY HERE AT HOME, your not paying any attention to anything, and you expect a free pass for your Obama, without EVER having to prove your points or debate. WAR OF FEAR? Hell yeah, 3,000 Americans dead in this country...yeah, I fear that happening again, because they will do it if they can! DO YOU THINK WE ARE SAFE HERE AND THEY AREN'T OUT FOR WORLD DOMINATION? Your 10 yr. old boy Obama, must believe that! But that's why 10 year old boys with their limited reasoning don't make decisions concerning foreign policy! DO YOU CALL WHAT HE SAID HIS EXPERIENCE IS, AS A 10 YEAR OLD CHILD SUFFICIENT TO FIGHT THE WAR ON TERROR??? REALLY??? What about the article I posted, any thing to say it's wrong, and if it is, how? YOU brought up the quote, "REAL WAR" and the article addresses that. I don't want people to just vote for the same ole tired tripe, when they just expect it because your an NDN!

Check this article out and see where he wants to send our money! Tell, me just exactly how he is really going to do what he says, beyond his lips moving! Tell me, why he isn't doing more RIGHT NOW, SINCE HE IS IN OFFICE! PROVE YOUR CASE BEYOND, I LIKE HIM AND HE WILL DO IT AND HE TALKS WELL!

Barack Obama, is out there (really out there) stumping for his party's nomination for President in 2008. And by the sound of his recent speech in Chicago, what he is proposing is a liberal's dream come true when it comes to securing influence and new friends around the world. In short, he plans to buy them off by sending taxpayer dollars over seas and spreading socialism to all.

Obviously Obama is a true believer in the liberal way. According to the fact sheet released by his campaign, the junior Senator from Illinois would help "expand security and opportunity" by doubling "U.S. Spending on Foreign Aid to $50 Billion a Year by 2012." We anxiously await Barack Obama's new, and sure to be best selling, book "How to Buy Friends and Purchase People" due to hit the shelves sometime this year.

This approach should come as no real surprise to anyone. After all, actions such as this are the hallmark of the religion of liberalism; give people money (formerly belonging to someone else) and secure their loyalty. For years the left has taken this approach at home with programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Stamps. Each time an election rolls around they make sure to remind everyone who has their hand in the cookie jar that a vote for them is a vote to continue those bribes and their loyalty payment of choice.

Then year after year they run around trying to figure out how to add new loyal followers to the roles of these programs. They even come up with more programs for those that don't qualify for myriad of the wealth redistribution plans already in existence. Then when it no longer suits their purposes to only purchase the loyalty of American citizens, the obvious next step is that they would turn to giving handouts to foreign countries.

While the concept of "foreign aid" is not an Obama creation, the fact that he wants to expand it (and he is not the only one by the way) speaks about how he thinks he can make people like not just him but the United States as a whole. And why not? Liberals of all stripes have been buying loyalty for years with great success.

Barack Obama, believing that all good things flow from a benevolent government ruled by masters who know what is best for those of us that exist under their rule, would of course think this is good idea. He believes that government knows how to best manage the important things in the lives of the people. And he firmly believes that his benevolence would push forward "strategic goals, including helping the world's weakest states to build healthy and educated communities, reduce poverty, develop markets, and generate wealth."

Call me cynical, but doesn't the government have a hard enough time "reducing" poverty, "educating" communities, and "developing" markets here in the United States despite the plethora of spending by big daddy government on such things? Have you taken a look at our inner cities, our government schools and businesses like Amtrak that have continued to slog along on government subsidies? How about instead relying on the people themselves and their own innate abilities to do these things?

Nah, because that would mean giving up core beliefs that are part and parcel of the liberal ideology. That's why.

But it's ok. Why is it ok you ask? Because Barack Obama is going to "demand more" from those countries that he wants to give this money to. His list of what he is going to "demand" from them includes things like "concrete steps to improve the rule of law". Although what "law" he refers to is unknown. There are lots of types of "law" and some of them certainly are not worth promoting. Sharia law comes to mind. But it is "law" and we certainly wouldn't want to offend observant Muslims who happen to believe that women are second class citizens and that when a man rapes a woman somehow the woman is at fault and should be stoned to death right?

He also would demand (in a firm tone I suppose) that the recipients of foreign aid "build transparent, accountable government institutions". Again call me cynical, but most of these governments where the aid will be targeted already seem to be pretty transparent. They are "transparently" bad. Anyone looking at them can see the abuses of power that exist without trying too hard.

Oh, but he will also demand a renewed "respect for human rights".

Now, with all these demands it sounds like he is proposing that the United States engage in "nation building" to me. And isn't the left always screaming bloody murder about that? Oh, that's right. They only scream about that when it is a Republican President (who is liberal enough in his own right) using the military to do that and when they think there is political advantage to be gained.

But I am sure that with Barack Obama in charge it will be ok.

With all the money Obama plans to spend, perhaps his biggest and boldest plan is to bring the American government funded education system to the rest of the developing world by "establishing a $2 billion Global Education Fund". Hey, maybe not a bad idea. After all, if we can make the rest of the world as pathetic at mathematics as the average child attending the public schools here in the United States we might have a fighting chance!

But wait, he's not finished. Barack Obama wants to relieve people of their obligations which is another great pillar of liberalism. He would "work with other developed nations and multilateral institutions to cancel remaining onerous debt while pushing reforms to keep developing nations from slipping into fiscal ruin." Wow. Don't you like how Obama is worried about the debt of people in other countries? Maybe he can just wave that magic wand of his and poof away the debt of millions of Americans too!

Why not? If it works for Sub-Saharan Africa, why can't it work for Joe Blow living in Chicago? Here's a news flash for Senator Obama. Basic economics dictates that someone, somewhere is going to pay a price for this action. He'll probably assure us that it will be only be the "rich" but I'll bet dimes to donuts that it will be American citizens who will ultimately pay the price of these forgiven debts.

Yes, under President Barack Obama all these nations that are the beneficiaries of our benevolence will be paid off if they act appropriately for the promise to play nice and help us fight terrorism. Does anyone worry that the people of these countries might just see their governments as being under the economic thumb of an American Empire? Anyone worry that the people of these countries will see their leaders as being weak and subservient to the would-be President Obama for the sake of money? Anyone worry that when the money fails to flow to anyone actually in need and remains in the pockets of the government officials that the citizens might become a little irked? Anyone? Anyone remember "oil for food"?

And can I point out that it is strange that these commitments are talked about without a timetable in an very open ended way? To me it is. Especially since Barack Obama said of President Bush's current commitment to the people of Iraq that, "the president has refused time and again to tell the Iraqi government that we will not be there forever."

Of course that statement is blatantly false since President Bush, Condoleezza Rice and now General Gates have all been saying this since at least January. If you doubt this you can read President Bush's State of the Union Address from Jan 10, 2007 (source: President's Address to the Nation)

But the point is Barack's own plan says nothing about time tables or not having an open ended commitment. You would think for a man so set on timelines (and he spells out clearly his Iraq Surrender Plan) that he would have discussed how long all these foreign countries he would be giving money to would have to comply.

You would think that. But Barack Obama does not actually intend there to be such timelines. That's not the socialist way. When it comes to redistributing wealth, there never are any "time lines" or "closed end commitments". Because the longer you can keep someone suckling at the government teat the better chance you have of hooking them on the money you are throwing their way.

I guess the only question left is what happens when after we've paid out all this money and these recipients don't meet the progress Obama determines they should? How are we going to get the money back? Maybe we'll have to establish another foreign aid fund in order to help them with that too?

In the long run I think that all that Obama's glorious plans are going to do is make a lot of dictators and tyrants very, very rich. We've tried appeasing people with money in the past. Usually such actions end very badly for us and the people under their rule. But then again, liberals don't ever seem to learn from history.

Then on top of that, he has in store for the American people one of the LARGEST TAX INCREASES EVER KNOWN, IN STORE FOR US!!

Where do you think the money comes from for ALLLLLL THE GOODIES THEY PROMISE EVERYBODY??? HIGHER TAXES, THAT'S WHERE! YOU WANNA PAY MORE TO THE GOVERNMENT? I DON'T!!
You have a democrat Senate and Congress RIGHT NOW AND JUST EXACTLY WHAT ARE THEY DOING FOR THE NDN'S OF THIS COUNTRY?? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE THE WHITE HOUSE? What exactly is Obama going to do for Native issues in Canada? Please explain.
More later....

Skillet, Obama or whatever Democrat that is propped up to the NDN's at every election, only has to give the usual lip service and quiet frankly, I don't understand why, for the life of me that, there isn't so much as a bleep on the radar screen of anger, that they continue to get away with it every time. Nisnawbe, put out more talking points and if Obama has his way, he will do what he says he wants to do, which IS NOT KEEPING THE MONEY IN THIS COUNTRY! If someone wants to use that argument, then at least prop up someone WHO ISN'T TAKING MORE OF OUR MONEY AND SENDING IT TO OTHER COUNTRIES! Someone can't win, their argument if your chosen Dem. says he will not keep it here!
In an interview with Tim Russert, he pointed out to Obama that more than 10 million Americans will have an increase in taxes up to $5000 dollars a yr. for just one program he wants to put forth to save Social Security. Now let's take another program as mentioned in the article, he wants to DOUBLE what this country gives to other nations in aide. OK WHERE IS THAT GOING TO HELP US OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER HERE IN AMERICA? IT'S NOT! Now where does he get the money for that one? Higher taxes! Now let's look at his universal health care program, and once again higher taxes! THERE ISN'T A TAX THEY DON'T WANT! They want more control over us by bigger and bigger government and government programs, with us being at their mercy. Now someone explain to me how more government and more government control has ever served us well? It hasn't and it won't!
I have asked several times to explain to me, how with them in office now...right now, that they can't do a damn thing for us and it's just the same ole promises as we have heard a thousand times before? PIGMENT DOES NOT SELL SOMEONE TO ME, CAUSE THAT'S ALL HE HAS! Oh and by the way, I am not here to sell anyone, or party, I am just sick and tired of handing over my vote because of tradition and not getting results, and calling them for what they are! LIARS!
But before someone pumps up a candidate, then they should at least know what he's running around the country saying he will do! So far that hasn't been the case in this thread when it comes to Obamabots!

I want to point out mission accomplished.

Mission Accomplished", a military phrase associated with completing a mission, is in recent years particularly associated with a sign displayed on the USS Abraham Lincoln during a televized address by United States President George W. Bush on May 1, 2003.

I can go on and on... I will too, but another time.

However vote

what, are we to just continue with what we've had? a president who can't count, never fought anywhere to understand the sacrifice, and zhit, is just plain stupid (he is the one who coined the word "internets").

whomever you vote for, please think long and hard and pray however you pray, knowing that this is the biggest election in a long time.

"I want it to be said that the Bush administration was a results-oriented administration, because I believe the results of focusing our attention and energy on teaching children to read and having an education system that's responsive to the child and to the parents, as opposed to mired in a system that refuses to change, will make America what we want it to be - a more literate country and a hopefuller country." -George W. Midway through falling on the floor laughing out loud I realized the above are words not from a cartoon character but a sitting president!!!!!!

So I had to rationalize my laughter and fell upon my usual mantra:
"If you don't laugh, you'll cry and die depressed."

Skillet that wasn't for you it was for Nishnawbe10 and by the way I am not here, representing any party, but I will state facts and point out the lies of the Democrats. They are not above being busted when they lie, and for the life of me why are they soooooo holy that it's a sin to call them on their mess? The Clintons record and Obama's, Please! Do I think Bush floats above the ground, NO! But what he has done right, he should get props for. When either party does good things, then they should be recognized as such!
You all, can't have it both ways, when the truth is presented it's the truth and they can't hide from what they have done and said, and that applies to both parties!
Your an NDN, well so am I!
No, I don't want more of the same, or more of the same from the prior administration either! Finally someone else is saying that it's important to make an informed decision when voting!
So why be so afraid to hear the truth or facts that you may not know about because it's outside the Democrat spin? I would love to point out the truth about Clinton's record and will continue to talk about his ridicules wife, him and Obama. No problem! Where Bush has been a disappointment, I will can talk about that too! That is what makes us different. I can give credit where credit is due! So we'll see where the truth takes us.
Oh, and skillet I have asked questions ALL ALONG and NOTHING! I have read your rhetoric and could probably write it for you. I don't write your favorite way or think just like you, but then again, I'm not suppose to. It would be nice to actually talk about the issues as I have been trying to. I would like to actually talk about how the videos above aren't rhetoric but actual words being spoken, proving a point that it didn't originate with Bush, it originated with the Democrats. What about that?
I used my own words as you wanted and asked anyone to explain to me how higher taxes are good for us, how bigger government is good for us, how more governmental control has ever been good for us, how Obama wants to send more money out of the country, how at least 3 of his programs call for countless tax increases, How more that ten million families will have to pay up to 5,000 more a year on taxes, for just one program, much less the foreign aide, the Universal Health care, etc.
When the Democrats roll back the tax cuts under this administration, that will be yet another tax increase! Because we will all be paying those taxes AGAIN! Anyone getting the picture yet? They want to take your money, to give it to support someone else, or do you think that you could spend YOUR MONEY BETTER THAN THE GOVERNMENT? I think I am a much better steward with MY MONEY, than the government is! I don't want them having more of it, why do you? JFK a democratic president did what Bush did to grow the economy and it worked both times, BY CUTTING OUR TAXES, yet the Dems. want to repeal the tax cuts, taking more, out of our pay checks and, your all fine with that!
So you mention how high rent is, food is, clothes, cost of living etc. yet you will vote for or at least support people that promise to take more of your money! Yeah, that make great sense! WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THEY WANT MORE OF MY MONEY, PLEASE! Oh, and by the way when Clinton left office we were in an economic downturn! Bush inherited that down turn and also in a short 8 months into his presidency he had 911 to deal with, and the twin towers were chosen to DISRUPT THE ECONOMY AND IT DID, IN A BIG WAY! The towers were key financial institutions, and our airline industry was in deep trouble as Americans were scared to fly! That is why there have been continual terrorist threats against Wall Street and why NYC remains such a target! The list is a long tedious list, of what this administration faced, that Clinton's didn't! I plan on voting for the candidate who best qualified, but I WILL NEVER VOTE OUT OF TRADITION, BECAUSE I OWE A PARTY MY VOTE! THE CANDIDATE HAS TO EARN IT, AND THAT IS FREEDOM!

Homalosa, Clinton didn't fight anywhere, he was a draft dodger. Bush served his country. To discount his service would be the same as saying that all others that served in the same capacity as Bush, didn't really serve their country either. That is also like saying that members of the military that supply support positions, outside of battle, really don't serve either. Bush's father was a war hero. Not everyone goes into battle, but we had a president that sent men and women into harms way, but wouldn't do it himself. That's a coward and less than a man who would send someone else to their possible death, but wouldn't serve the country he is sending from!
Internets? Remember how Al Gore invented the internet? How dumb was that?
There's alot of tit for tat when it comes to stupid things that politicians say, but it's what they do in office that counts and that is the meat of what matters.

Again, this is why we are fighting and this is an example of what we have to keep the terrorists from obtaining, by letting them amass weapons Halabja - Never forget Halabja 88
We need a president that understands the threat and takes appropriate action, which is not holding tea parties. The only talking that evil engages in, is terms of surrender of those they wish to dominate, and rule over.

Remember the old but true saying, First they came for the Jews, but I did not speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists, but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for Trade Unionists, but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

History always repeats itself if we don't learn from it, and it's a hell of a lot more serious than Bush not being an eloquent speaker.

When we sit by as a nation, and let monsters do this to people and then another group of people, and then another, and we fail to act to save them, and stop the evil, then in the end when it comes here, who will be left to help us?

We as a people talk of knowing terrorism since 1491, but for many NDN's today, those NDN's are fine with letting Genocide happen to others, as it's not happening to us in this country. How can that be? We know the outcome of such a thing. How can that be? Why have hearts been hardened like that? Because it's coming here and will eventually reach what's precious to us. It already took 3,000 precious souls in this country. We aren't untouchable or can't be reached. It's not hysteria or hype, it already happened.

So Obama says the real war is in Pakistan, well look at the baby in this link and what they did to kill 170 people using the baby. They strapped a bomb on a 1 yr. old baby! TheReligionofPeace.com - Islam: Making a True Difference in the World

Can't wait to hear how he can talk to people who do such things. Really think they just need a good talkin to?

Bush served? you seem to forget the scandal involving dub's national guard service...and bill clinton had a student deferment, hardly draft dodging...take a look at the sons and daughters of bush's cabinet and see how many of them are serving....and yes dubs proved himself a coward on 911...where was he? our"fearless"leader...pfttttt...personally,i think(as do many others) that LYING for a reason to invade another country and sending 3000+ US citizens to their death is beyond criminal....when you fill your gas tank,i hope you remember each and every person who has been killed so that the oil companies can post grossly obscene profits....Bush and his admin have violated the US Constitution numerous times...thats treason..they have lied under oath in court and to the US Congress....these are not speculations but fact....do some simple research and find the links between the bush family and their vested intrests in the middle east...ask yourself why do arab countries donate money to daddy bush's library and other organizations that the bushs are involved with? You post about money going out of this country? LOL yes it does and dubs is number one at that...where have all the US jobs gone? when i call my banks toll free number i get some one in INDIA...when i call my computer companies number i get INDIA...why did bill gates invest many millions of dollars in INDIA and not the US? because of the deals dubya has cut with the Indian govt...

one very simple question that i asked before...what has this administration done to help Indian people?
