    Hey Wyo_Rose

Yeah, this is on the other thread as well, asking for good websites for research purposes. There are many many site out there. Basically the good ones are the ones that actually have the information right from the Vital Records or the Counties or the tribes.

What I mean by that is that there are thousands of sites for people to put in their own family info for other's to see, but you never actually see how or where they got the info to verify that it is actually accurate.

There are many many good ones too that list vital records, I sure don't know all of them. But I do have my favorites and Rootsweb is one of them. And it's totally free. You just have to go in and look around 'cause there is so much info from all the states and it's a good site.

Oh that's fine. What about changing it to "What are some good resources for looking stuff up besides on the internet?"

        That would work.

Each tribe is different. Many of the tribes has a library where you can find info or you can check many of the general websites and they cover all Tribes, not just Cherokee. Although Cherokee has the most out there that I've seen so far.

I've also found other tribes on these websites and much info on their ancestors. Tribes such as: Kiowa, Choctaw, Arapaho, Cheyenne. Mission NDN's and many more that I've looked up here and there.

Many of these tribes now have their own official websites as well and many of those have history sections and other usefull information.

I live in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, and spend about 6 days a week up there with my husband. (He trains squirrel dogs) Through the years we have found a major assortment of ground finds that show up after a good rain. I know we are live in Caddo territory, and have done some research,...

              by momme
I'm not a complete Techno-idiot but i guess I'm pretty close. Ok in a couple of posts Paul has mentioned "click through" as a way to make money for the site through the advertisers. How does this work? If i click on any of the links/ads does that count? Is it only if I buy something from...
