Did anyone know or hear about the Passing of Bill Sunrise on the 8/4/05. I just read on the Gathering Of Nations web site that he had passed on this past Thrusday. My prayers go out to the Sunrise family.

I didnt hear yet exactly what happened but I do know that Bill passed away on Thursday and we are all very sad for Pearl and her girls. From the little time I spent with him, I knew him to be a gracious and humble man and he and his wife were a beautiful couple. My heart and prayers go out to my sister Shawna and her family right now and always.

My heartfelt sympathies to Pearl, Debra, Shana and talk show host Beulah Sunrise. I had the pleasure of serving as co-emcee with Beulah for the Miss Indian World Pageant for 3 years.

Bill (Garcia) Sunrise, was instrumental in bringing the powwow tradition to New Mexico. He was a fancy dancer and later a traditional dancer and singer. He learned powwow dancing at Bacone College and took this knowledge to his home state.

He was a good man and will be missed.
