  • Take Action for Leonard Peltier

From: Peltier Central Texas Branch Support Group

Feb. 6 marks 33 years of imprisonment for our brother Leonard Peltier.

It goes without saying that we should be contacting all the proper people everyday for our brother. But we want to add an exclamation mark to on Feb. 6 , We ask that on this day at 12 noon mountain time everyone make a call to the White House comment line and ask for Executive Clemency for Leonard.

This will coincide with other actions around the country that day.

Tell your friends and family. Make notes and carry with you and pass out to friends with the phone number on it and ask them simply that on Feb. 6 at 12 noon (Mountain time) that they take 2 min out of their lives to make this call. Many are not able to travel for events but can reach out for Leonard in unison this way. Let the President hear thought the comment line thousands of comments for Leonard in one short time frame.

I have read the story about Leonard Peltier. After many years in prison, I thought he was assumed pass away. I would love to have him free from prison if he was alive. Are you saying he is still alive or am I going through hallucination (seeing what I thought I am seeing like dreams)? If he is alive, then keep up the good faith that someday he will get out. 33 years is a long time. If he gets out, he will have culture shock of what is like outside with everything new to him. Everything change so fast that it is amazing how technologies get us where we are. I support Leonard Peltier but I have not heard about him in the news very long. So help me clarify that he is very much alive and waiting for us to bail him out of jail.

You are very welcome. The shift I speak of is a bit odd. I am hoping they will understand my heart.

                Peltier should rot.

The Peltier case has many twists and turns, and his extradition was farcical, but the fundamental issue is this: he did it.

If he wanted to truly be a hero or martyr, he would have not run to Canada -- akin to his heroic contemporaries -- remained, been tried with them, and found, "Not Guilty by Self-Defense."

But he couldn't do that. Why not? Because he was already an accused criminal (warrants/charges) and fugitive before any of this occurred. (He could go to jail for alleged criminal acts BEFORE Pine Ridge.) In sum? Lack of courage/character.

Natives want a hero? Choose someone else.

This guy deserves to rot: not a single Native has EVER been advanced due to this guy's legacy.
