Our methods of paying for life vary.
Sometimes payment is emotional, and sometimes it
    is quite literal.
We fight for things not worth the effort
and let the beautiful moments slip away without a
word. The thought of failure haunts us and we
groan because we cannot beat life into something
that had no life from the beginning.
We are like the brown towhee that sees her
reflection in the window pane and beats her wings
against it time and again--because she is a competi-
    tor, not a realist.

If the Great and Good Spirit wished us to believe as
the whites, he would have changed us.
