rolling off life's highs and lows
treading blindly on tip toes
my earliest memory would be
the world a total stranger to me
i've came upon many crossroads
many times carrying heavy loads
made every choice uncertainly
grew stronger by what burdened me
i believed before i had seen
that i was one half of a team
i remember the butterflies inside
when i first met my new guide
here this little girl who would dream of birds
most times i would heed her words
she had this contagious laugh and smile
she became my best friend as a child
as i traveled through the east
she was the one that gave me peace
and days when it would storm
she was the one who kept me warm
the first time that i did not listen
months had passed with her missing
that is how i wound up south
very unsure of my whereabouts
i would keep going given to pride
i stopped when i seen her back by my side
i had to see where it had taken me
and so i reached my awakening
this world is so very grown
yet i don't want to be on my own
others may point and laugh
but i am keeping my better half
to maintain happiness on this course
i never doubt that she is the source
i know i will remain south for a while
and hold on best i can to my inner childGoot one
