  • Cherokee dress

I went to Cherokee,NC & picked up a brochure with a young lady wearing a white dress with feathers around the collar. I'm familiar with the Cherokee tear dress, but I've never seen anyone wearing this particular dress before. You can see an image of it in a video on this site: The Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Can anyone tell me about this dress? I asked a Cherokee friend of mine and he said he's never seen anything like it before.

You may have already found your answer, but just in case, check out the following thread. I don't know how to post the link, but it is in the Cloth Dancing forum and the thread is "Cherokee Style Tear Dress No Longer Eastern Band."

The "new" Eastern Band Cherokee dress is discussed as well as the feathered cape.

    Hope this helps.

Those look like white turkey feathers. I remember seeing a picture of a Miss Cherokee (CNO) from about 30 years ago wearing a full cape made of turkey feathers.
