  • Benefit concert for Attawapiskat

Some of you may already be aware of the suicide crisis ongoing on Attawapiskat First Nation in Ontario, Canada. People are tired of a lot of talk but little action from the government and the general public, so we are taking action. Kitchener-Waterloo Native women's drum circle Mino Ode Kwewak N'Gamowak is partnering with multiple Indigenous and non-Indigenous performing artists in concert, including special guest Susan Aglukark. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Vezina Secondary School care of Miriam Wesley, Attawapiskat School Board CEO. We were asked to remember the Youth and Shannen’s Dream. “All she wanted was to go to a real school” (one with a library, recreation centre, a space for youth to be with one another).

Is the Red Cross still up at Attawapiskat? I wonder if they're still taking donations earmarked for the community.

Here's the link to print out a Red Cross donation form on which you can earmark the donation to Attawapiskat, if anyone is so moved to help. The online donations for the Red Cross can't be made for this specific cause, although just helping the RC in general is such a good idea.

I've been watching a lot of online video focused on their ongoing housing crisis, and now this suicide crisis - heartbreaking!!
