  • Gall Stones

Ughhhh can anyone tell me what these nasty fu***s are? I ended up in the ER here early this am, with SEVERE stomach pain just below the rib cage and in the front. Second time I was there for the same thing, except this last episode was a month later the last.. any help would be greatly appreciated, still waiting for the results of the blood work I had done, to find out WTF was going on

i had my gall bladder removed oh about 8 years ago best damn thing i ever did. shyt that pain is right up there with labor pains ....mmmmm demoral.

dont know what causes it but it was explained to be as deposits (of what i don't know) inside your gall bladder that are trying to get out as your gall bladder is releasing fluid to help you digest your food. and certain foods cause it to flare up for me it was hot dogs and i was craving them at the tail end of my second pregnancy. fatty foods usually cause it to flare up too.

the surgery is quite simple - three small incisions (1/2 inch in size) and they pull it out through one of them. they even gave me mine in a specimin jar and they looked like those candy NERDS - small little evil thangs!!

I was wondering how you felt about the surgery and shyt like that, for me I am scared to "go under" the last time I came close to that was when I was 5, and had my Tonsils out

But yah, I will have to agree on the pain, it was AWFUL Unreal actually, but have to get the ultra sound done on the stomach, and then meet with a surgeon if that's what it is... thanks for posting and for the info :)

i had like hella surgeries compared 2 some people - since i was two. but i still get scared (of course) but just think there will be no pain after this. be tuff.

they make three small and i mean small cuts and fill your abdomen with air - so they can see through the scopes. couple snips here and there and you're all done.

when you wake up you have to MAKE SURE you start moving around RIGHT AWAY. simple things like sitting up, walking to the bathroom and i'll tell you the truth it hurts like hell when the pain meds wear off. but you have to do this so the little bit of air that is left inside of you can escape.

the girl in the next bed to me didn't move until the next day and she had it ROUGH - crying around and she couldn't really move because of the pain. i on the other hand did what the nurses told me and i was ok by the next morning when they discharged me. still stiff and a little in pain but NOTHING like that chick.

shyt her mom got mad at her when she asked me what i was in there for and i told her the same thang as your daughter but i moved right away. but her daughters surgery was BEFORE mine. dang should have seen all her motherly sympathy go out the window!!!

          gallstones

About 16 years ago I had my gallbadder taken out. It can get very serious my stones had gone into my small intenstines and blocked it. I could not eat or drink and keep it down. It can cause you to jauduice, was told when it gets to a level 10 it can explode and kill you. Mine was a level 9.
The doctor told me that some times it is caused from pregancy, hertiary and eating vegetables that were not properly clean. The sand creates balls in the gallbadder. Even if they remove your gallbadder one speck of sand can re-create a stone up to 7 years later. They used to have to make a large scare and remove your gallbadder but now adays they try and remove it through your belly button. Some foods after still my bother you for awhile till your body adjusted to not having a gallbadder like spicy foods, onions, salads. Also was told that some women who had there gallbadder removed at a older age developed diaherrea this can be solved with a powder that is a bile compound just add to liquid. Some where in the statics I read that 75% of native american women have to have there gallbadder's removed. This problem does run in some families. Well I will get off my soap box Hope this helped.

I still don't like the idea of "going under", I half way wonder if I will ever wake up That and I wonder where my spirit goes when shyt like that happens... where my mind goes for that matter, or is it just like taking a nap and waking up feeling a bit odd?

I got rid of my gallstones using a flush and Chinese herbs - no surgery and no pain! Best thing I ever did! I hate the anesthesia too!

REally?!? what was the process? my nephew is on the waiting list to get his removed...how long did it take, what are the herbs, etc. etc.?

as for the anesthesia for moi, it was like falling asleep quickly and waking up almost instantly. kinda weird once i really think about it...the surgical team gettin you to count down from ten (i got to 8) and then a recovery room nurse telling me the surgery was over..i was still a little bit groggy for awhile..

Mine had been making stones for years and I did'nt know it until I had 3 episodes in a week of vomiting 6 hours straight, that stomach and rib cage pain along with back pain and I got jaundiced.. in fact after my second trip to the emergency room (first time the dumb doctor heard the word taco and sent me home with a diagnosis of gastronitis and did'nt even do any tests) I was sent home with a pain killer and just after i took it , the emergency room called and told me to come back cause I was going into toxic shock. I spent a week in the hospital while my pancreatitis cleared up on nothing but IV and not even able to drink water but dang did I get one pain killer cocktail!!!! Had me telling my roomates to bring my camera and view my report card! Crazy stuff!!! And I actually tried wheeling myself in the wheel chair with my IV drip back to the room LOL!!.............................. anyhow, the surgery is no big deal and you recover from it fast if you do what they tell you to do. You might develope some unfun side effects from your gall bladder being removed though like Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Acid Reflux Disease, but those are far better than pancreatitis I tell ya! Until you decide what you are going to do, quit eating spicy, fatty or fried foods, sugary foods and alcohal... they'll just keep making you sick. KEEP your diet pretty bland even after the surgery for about a week or two.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear... just sing, sing a song.sigpic

I had my gall bladder removed this past summer.
After a year of occasional pain episodes, my doctor decided to get surgery set up for me.
I was more nervous to go under, and not the surgery.
I would be off work sometimes a week due to my gall bladder. It hurt!!!
I got jaundice, it wasn't fun. You'll know when you start getting jaundice by yellowing of the eyes, palms, under your tongue,
and the most annoying part was being itchy. How this happened was, gallstones caused a blockage in my bile duct so I was unable to release bile.
Which then goes into your bloodstream and causes jaundice. In August the day I left for Schemitzun, I got a procedure done which they put a tube and camera down my throat to pass the stones into my gall bladder. That wasn't a big deal, not much fun either. They don't put you under for that procedre, just a mild does of some cocktail to relax you. The only feeling afterwards was a scratchy throat. I then got the surgery in September. I was in and out of the hospital in about 4 hours. I had no pain, just relief. The part I didn't like was waking up from the anethesia. It was weird...I'll never forget that feeling. I have 3 scars on my belly, not noticeable. The scar in the middle of my abdomen, about 4 inches up from my belly button is about an inch. The other two, 1 above my belly button and 1 on my right side are about a centimeter. Little to no bleeding.

Good luck with everything, you won't regret getting surgery done. It's most common in women between the ages of 25-35.

AngieBuns, I hope that you have had your gb taken care of by now because it isn't something to wait on. I totally emphasize with what you are feeling...I was the same way due to some bad anesthesia when I had a c-section years ago. Unfortunately, I waited until the very last second to let them take out my gallbladder because I was so scared and almost ended up septic (gangreen [sp])... in the end I prayed and everything was just peaceful...in and out of the hospital in 6 hrs!...
