Gas Prices Drive Man to Commute by Horse
Associated Press - Sun. Sep 4, 9:07 PM ET

MINOT, ND -- Jim Jundt was so determined to rein in his spending on gasoline that he got out of bed early and rode his 14-year-old quarterhorse mare to work.

Jundt lives 15 miles south of Minot and works as a mechanic at Goodyear Tire & Auto Service in the city.

He said he and his co-workers had been talking about rising fuel prices, and he joked that he would ride his horse to work if gasoline ever hit $3 a gallon.

His co-workers laughed, but when the price at the pump soared to $3.20 last week, Jundt headed for the barn.

He said he was only five minutes late riding his mare, Patty, to work.

While he worked, Patty waited patiently, eating hay out of the back of a truck.

"Be good, be kind, help each other."
"Respect the ground, respect the drum, respect each other."

i say way to go...i mean gas prices are so high these days and with unemployment on the rize who has the means of ttraveling far....sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do just to get there and if it means riding by horse to work then thats kewl..i grew up riding horses on my grandpas farm so for me its normal...ppl make fun of something that they dont see everyday especially in the city because to them it aint normal..personally i wouldnt mind riding horses or go back to riding horse and buggy days...it means less pollution...ofcourse the factories (GM, Crysler, ford etc..) would collapse but yay that would mean less jobs but in return less pollution...and less danger if a major fire would break out on one of those plants...something like that could wipe out a whole enitre city in no time flat..maybe city life would be less hectic.. so two thumbs up to that dude

I give that man all the credit in the world. I would do the same thing if I could too. I can't afford to go out here & pay nearly $5 for gas. It's crazy! That's why I take the bus to where I gotta get to everyday. It's much cheaper.
