oh, i could barely finish reading this story through my tears that were falling for this precious baby, the absolute horror she was subjected to, my heart feels so heavy for this beautiful baby, to think that there are truly evil people in this world, but i know Marcela Hope is in a special place with the creator, i just dont understand why children are put back with parents who abused them in the first place to suffer more or lose their lives.

they should do to andrew what he did to marcela so he knows what pain and anguish he cause her before they hang him, an eye for an eye

Child Murdered -- warning advised before reading

This is in response to the many replies to the story of Marcela's death published by the Riverton Ranger. First of all this was and still is a very emotional time for all those who were directly involved with this case. I've known Macalia for over ten years, I know in my heart that she wouldn't hurt her children. I know what this man Andy is capable of doing first hand. I have seen his work all over Macalia's face and body long before Marcela was born, I have watched and helped both the Grandmother and Aunt of Macalia struggle to bring justice for her. The legal channels (social services, local police) were of no help, it seemed they protected him more than her, and out of fear Macalia also protected him. Andy beat her while she was pregnant with each of their four children. Andy was incarcerated for a period of time for beating her while she was pregnant with the twins. During this time I watched Macalia get her life on track. She completed parenting classes and was living alcohol and drug free. To make a long story short, he returned and the struggle continued. There was a court order that stated he was not to be in the home but a piece of paper couldn't keep him away. Marcela was given to her mother on the condition that Andy was not living there. He won, because the social services would not listen to the grandmother. She did follow the court order when she knew he was there by calling the police, social services but nothing was ever done. Sometime in the month of June no one was allowed to go into the apartment. Everytime we asked about Marcela, Macalia would say that she was with her dad. I understand that many of you may not feel sympathy for the mother but she also went through hell. She endured many beatings by this man, even in front of his family members and they did nothing to protect her. He brought his sisters over to beat Macalia in her own home. I had seen Macalia's face after a beating, she had a knot on her forehead the size of a cue ball and shoe prints on her face, she had also been hit by a metal chair. This incident happened in front of his grandmother, police were notified, only to have his grandmother lie and deny that anything had happened, the place had been cleaned before police arrived. For four years Macalia had black eyes, knots, split lip, bald spots and scars. I have told you only a small part of this story, to clarify the accusations of the grandmother failing to do anything, her heart is broken for Macalia and Marcela, she loves them both. The mourning process has just begun for the Blackburn family after fighting for justice for so long. Andrew tried to kill Marcela while she was still in the womb by stomping on Macalia's stomach. On July 2, 2004 Andrew stated, " I wish this little b**** would hurry up and die." within a couple of hours our Marcela was gone, Andrew completed his goal. Domestic violence and child abuse is overlooked because no one wants to get involved. I pray that the new laws will change this attitude so that many victims can be helped before its to late. Protect your loved ones any way you can. For those of you who read this, I pray that you will never forget Marcela Hope for the sake of all children.

There is a pecking order in prisons, and child murderers/child
molesters/child abusers are at the very bottom. Usually they
have to be segregated from the other prisoners. I say: give
this SOB life without parole and then drop him in the general
prison population. Let him learn the meaning of the words
"punk", "punk-*****" and "sissy" in prison jargon--which he will
--before the other inmates do him in (which they will--look
        what happened to Jefferey Dahmer).

Rezbluesgirl--- I would like to thank you for the personal insight on this situation. I can only imagine how hard it is on everyone close to this little girl and my sincerest sympathies are with her family.

I don't know what this world is coming too.It makes me sick everytime I here about a murder.I think they should treat the guilty party the same why the victims were treated.

Yep.. I knew about this NYWG... thing that upsets me is that the reporter only "picked" some selected posts, most of them the angrier sounding ones and it put some of this thread out of context.

The online version of the Ranger story about the web postings is even slightly different than what was actually printed in the paper. The online version added a post by ThisGirlPowwows.

I know this family has suffered. And I understand your points. But the very fist time this man hit Macalia, she should have left. Every time she let him abuse her, she damaged her children. Yes, I know the statistics and cycles on women who get abused, but we need to teach our Native women that they cannot put up with this behavior. She chose to stay in this relationship for 4 years so she is also at fault for her precious daughters death. What kind of person hangs a child from their overalls in a closet? She should have held that little girl in her arms. And sang to her and talked to her and kissed her precious head. They maybe she would have realized how close to death Marcela was.

I pray that this horrible story will help other women living this life to leave before they live the same fate or worst, raise son who will be an abuser or a daughter who will allow herself to be abused.

I am going to go hug my children right now. I cant even express how I feel about this.
As much as I want to do unimaginable things to this man the only way to bring justice to this little girl is to love as many lil children as you can.
Soon as my wife finishes nursing school I feel like I should adopt.

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the doctor walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. She was still groggy from surgery. Her husband, David, held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news. That afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced...

Honestly I can't not find the origin of this story. All I can say it is one that my mother and grandmother shared with my brother and I as kids. I do know that my mother said that her grandmother used to tell this story to her when she was a child. My mother passed in 1984 at age 39, my grandmother...
