ANY ONE RELATED TO THIS LATEST OUTBREAK OF "MUMPS"?

SINCE I AM A GRANDMOTHER, I AM FEARFUL OF THIS RECENT OUTBREAK OF MUMPS! I READ IT'S IN IOWA/EASTERN STATES, BUT THOSE THINGS DON'T TAKE LONG TO SPREAD! ANYONE GOT IDEAS ON HOW TO KEEP OUR KIDS 'SAFE'. I KNOW THERE'S A SUPPLY OF VACCINATION, BUT HOW FAR WILL IT GO?

Worded the title wrong! Working/playing @ the same time!

I don't mean is anyone related to the outbreak of mumps, but do they have friends/family that could be close to where the outbreak is and what is being done to cap it? It seems like this sort of news was the downfall of many tribal people back in the day!!!

Mumps, measles and rubella vaccination is routine for most children in the US. A first immunization is given around 12 months with boosters at 4-6yrs and 12-19 yrs (Also in some cases for older (50+) adults).

My understanding is that part of the problem with this outbreak is adults who never had a the booster shoots. There is evidence that a single injection is only 80% effective (which is still vastly better than the 0% of no shoot).

I know there is some debate about vaccine safety. These concerns should be discussed with your health care provider. We who live in a post-vaccination world frequently forget the grim consequences of disease. For example, it should also be remembered that mumps is a leading cause of deafness in children and this risk should be weighed when declining MMR vaccination for your children.

Yes, unfortunately no vaccine is 100% effective. If I recall what I've read correctly, MMR is in the high nineties precent effective when the booster has been administered.

Since vaccines work by "teaching" the immune system what the bad germs "look" like, there is some variation in response in the development of antigens. Some people's bodies are better at learning and remembering what a pathongenic virus or bacteria "looks" like. Also since some illnesses have many strains or are highly changable -- like influenza -- the bacteria or viruses can present a different face, as it were, to the body the strain/s used to prepare the vaccine. This results in differing levels of immune response to differing strains.

If this is spreading like this among the small precentage of unvaccinated or not-having had an effective immune response vaccinated individuals, imagine what would be happening if no one was vaccinated. Or maybe you shouldn't....

According to the CDC, you should really be worried about the recent outbreaks of Chicken Pox. Chicken Pox is more contagious and more deadly than Mumps.

In almost all of the outbreaks, almost everyone was vaccinated, so the theory of herd immunity is false. Also, it brings into question the effectiveness of the vaccine itself.

If you breastfeed, your children will have life-long immunity/natural immunity, or if you had the actual disease, you will also have life-long immunity. Therefore, getting vaccinated will only put you or your children at risk for adverse reactions, ie-febrile seizures, diabetes mellitis, Guillian-Barre Syndrome, Bells Palsy, etc.

Note: If you or your child has Chicken Pox, never use aspirin for treatment. It will cause death almost always. It is safer to use natural methods, ie-cool bath, cool washclothe, increase fluid intake, avoid all dairy, especially eggs.

According to many medical journals, etc. it is difficult to determine cause of death from vaccine preventable diseases, such as measles, mumps, rubella, etc. So, ask yourself, how are they coming up with such numbers from pre-vaccine eras?


Never in our indigenous stories do we hear of epidemics from disease, and we never vaccinated, and we were thriving when the White Man came.

When smallpox blankets were given, you have to remember that Indigenous people had no access to clean water, sanitary conditions, nor adequate food. Necessary for the human body to fight and survive disease.

According to research by the NIH, Native Americans on Reservations and off the Reservation, who never used formula and always breastfed their children, still show immunity to smallpox.

It is in our DNA and passed onto our children.

I'm fearful for my grandkids..........

As it is I get worried about them falling or running into something or just getting hurt, but these diseases are a true nightmare!!! Even the vaccines sound terrible. I've always wondered why they ask "are you allergic to eggs"? cause it's in the flu vaccine......

If you actually took the time to research the various diseases, you will see they are not that bad. Vaccines have not been around very long...65 years?
We now have antibiotics, IV fluids, and a host of advances in medicine to help the human body fight off disease.

Most vaccines are made using either chicken embryos or aborted fetus cells.
