im all for the people coming back together. i accept that there are people who hid out in the mountains to avoid the removal process, hell, my own family has a story about a female ancestor who chased a government 'census' taker down thier mountain with a rifle in each hand. i know that in westvirginia NDNs were forbidden by law to own land and subject to being shipped off west untill 1964. i know that virginia, untill 1973 listed native peoples as negro on birth certificates. i know the east end of turtle island has been pretty harsh to indiginous peoples. and i realize that alot of the different peoples have been run into clerical extinction and i totally favor them coming back together to share and revive thier particular culture with people of a like herritage.
i dont however like the freeforall of ndn clubs going to thier states and begging recognition. the whole deal with getting recognition is next to impossible and doesnt seem to be worth anything anyway.
that group in west virginia, the aaiwv...
they had what they thought was recognition from the state, one resolution from each house, calling them a tribe and all. they have letters from the governor congradulating them and to read the resolutions ,yeah, the state gave them recognition. they didnt get anything for it beyond the recognition. no land,no extra hunting or fishing rights, no money, no nothing. and they hadnt asked for anything either. they just wanted the recognition and they had it. right up untill someone called them on it and the state choked. the same guy who signed the resolutions turned around and said ' yeah, well that was just for show it doesnt mean anything'.
so...
why bother? is state recognition really worth any thing ? and how do you differentiate between the wannabe clubs and the children of the forgotten searching for the promised land?

Southside Va has thousands of people with significant Indian ancestry. As we look at history most of us in the Southeast were forced into hiding and forgetting who we were and in the last 50 years we have been able to begin reorganizing, remembering and getting basic recognition. It is a good thing that people in VA and NC have in the last 50 years have begun this process and it is good that others like the Nottoway and others are continuing this trend. And this trend is and will continue because brown people will eventually take Turtle Island back.. The White people tried to brainwash us all into forgetting who we were. Now they still pull the strings having one group, who has gotten some form of recognition, ridicule other groups who are trying. Just remember the more Indians there are the sooner we can take our land back. Lets work on coming together!!

Ok that article... ya'll know how it's been discussed that the wahoos are the ones that get all the media attention? Keep that in mind because I know the guy in the lower picture is a fraud. You'll notice his name in one of the articles I posted about the protest at grand river, with everyone asking who the hell he is and yet he's telling people all over that's where he's from.
