Eagle Feather Usage

I read an article about a ring of poachers that were killing eagles for just their tails and talons and selling them to people interested only in winning contest money. It made me sick to think that a Native person would do such a thing. If I hear of anyone selling eagle feathers I will report it. I was taught that the eagle is a sacred messenger and anyone who doesn't take these teachings seriously has no business having these feathers.

Eagle Feather Usage
PowWows.com supports the The Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and Title 50 Part 22 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations. These efforts have helped in protecting Eagles across the US. In addition these laws provide methods for American Indians to legally obtain Eagle feathers. For more information, please see:
As a community, PowWows.com strives to uphold these regulations. Our members have played roles in finding and reporting online sales of Eagle feathers on eBay and other sites.Tags: None

by NiigigI learned a lot recently about eagle feathers, and I thought, "Hey, maybe someone else will wonder like I did, why not write it down, just in case?" So here it is.
I had emailed the DNR here in Minnesota asking about the laws concerning eagle feathers, and specifically whether...-
