Are the Barak rumors just vieled racism?

I find it amazing that the rumors and smears about Obama are believed.

He's a Muslim.
He was born in Africa.
He doesn't salute the flag.

I'm sure you heard them too!

I read stories like this:

And I wonder if people really believe these rumors or its something else.

Obama has even setup a website to fight these rumors:

But I think he is attacking the wrong thing.

During the primary I talked to people of my parent's generation that are middle of the road politically. Many seemed to like Obama and hoped he would do well.

Now I talk to those same people and they tell me that there is "just something about him..." They are now leaning to McCain, but they don't know why.

So here's my theory.

Obama is black! And they just won't and can't vote for a black man. When Hillary was winning it was easy to say they like the black man since we probably wouldn't win.

Now people are looking for reasons not to vote for him. To me they are just grasping at anything to validate why they won't vote for Obama.

What do you all think?

My wife would get mad when I would say Hillary didn't have a chance, because America isn't ready for a woman president. I would tell her we would probably get a black president first... I don't think America is ready for a black president just yet. We are in need of a change, I just don't see it happening yet.

It is not a rumor that he belonged and participated for 20 years in a hate-based church that was and remains a front for a political hate group. Have you listened to the hate-filled speeches PUBLISHED by his church?

And when is he going to answer the question of HOW he is going to change things. Anybody can chant that we need change. Does he have any ideas? I keep waiting.

He says now that his church does not reflect his current views.

So, He didn't Inhale all that hatred he got out of bed on sunday mornings to hear?

I think Black Americans deserve a President who is a person of integrity. If Colin Powell were running for president, you wouldn't be hearing rumors.

I was raised in a church that taught me Catholics and Mormans were cults and didn't believe in Jesus. But I turned out ok (I know that may be debatable).

Being a member of that church doesn't bother me so much. I personally wanted him to wait another round before he ran because of his inexperience.

But as for the other stories that are UNtrue, why are they believed?

Yeah, I'm serious. I really think that people here are believing this stuff because it is a easy way to not vote for the black man. Come down south for a while. People are experts at dressing up racism and making it pretty.

But that's what I'm asking, what's going on in the rest of the country.

Paul, if I could find the news clips of him sitting during the Pedge in a congressional hearing, and looking around like he was bored out of his mind while the national Anthem was being played then I would post them......I'll keep looking for them, but by now I wouldn't be surprised if they were taken off the web.......
