When I think of all the times NA's were literally dragged from their lands and indoctrinated into the white Christian culture it makes me sick to my stomach. There is a movie called "One Good Indian". It sort of tells the story of a NA boy who is forced into a school for NA's and then is slowly but surely indoctrinated into Christianity. Sure. They cut his hair off. Made him wear the white mans clothes and speak only the white mans language. Wes Studi did a very good job in his role. As did the actor who played the young NA boy. I thought the movie said it all. The OP is right actually. Its not so much he's trying to pass off the blame to everyone else. He is trying to convey a sense of what is really going on in America. Even today, NA's are in fact being treated much as they have been for well over three centuries. Some may find that rather remarkable, but it is true. I spoke the just the other day to this fellow. He said, man you guys(NA's) are doing so well with your casinos and reservations. I actually laughed. Was he misinformed. I said those casinos exist primarily for the elite. The wealthy. Those that forget the history and adopted a more or less
capitalistic approach to NA woes. Oh, I don't personally blame anyone from making a buck or two, but when they are arrogant and forget whose land these casinos are built upon, well I have an issue with that.
Traditions are easily forgotten for many young natives. Instead opting out for more mainstream type ways of living. The cost though, is they sacrifice the history and their people as well as their tribe and that is clearly a problem that must be dealt with. Many NA's, whether part time, half breed, full blooded etc should really consider their history before anything else, because after that, there is nothing else.

Well , you could just put on your breach-cloth and run through the streets !
I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
        It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

If I hear another whiny Native complain about things dating to 1890 I'm going to be ill.

Oh, sure, the 1950s-70s weren't stellar, made worse by the foolish workings of Russell Means and the AIM ilk, but -- in general -- American Indians possess just as much opportunity as anyone else to succeed or fail in modern society.

Unless, of course, you desire to not exist in modern society.

If you desire to define that as "victory," go ahead: you're merely volunteering to be the Darwinist rule.

zeke.....the only thing i do agree with woundedbear is that some ****tiness does still happen to indians today......but guess what....****tiness also happens to other groups as well......by other ethnicities/races other than white also.........and even by indians towards other indians............it never ends

that bein said i dont have the answer....none of us ever will......i do think WB needs to move on to re-constructing his life into a better model for his own sake.....i dont know what he needs help with first but in guessing mental health

Can you explain more about acts you are talking about?
