      2 different people.
I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
      It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

Wow, I don't ever remember hearing of him either.

I never heard of Andy Payne either, the Cherokee guy who won the TransAmerica Foot Race back during the depression either.

And even though I lived near the area, I never knew that Aleut people were forced from their villages during WWII and moved into internment camps in SE Alaska, and that they received reparations from the US govt back in the Reagan administration.

I stumbled across a link that I'm hooked on: Watch | Vision Maker Media

How can we find out about all kinds of things that the mainstream media won't report?

Yes, I don't know how I stumbled across it! And all the videos seem to load and play fine on my computer. Most seem to play through SNAG FILMS, which comes up on my WIFI BluRay player, but I can't find most of these in the huge SNAG FILMS list, and when I tried to play ISHI the Last Yahi, it kept skipping back and repeating chapters.

And here...I thought SNAG FILMS were all about ...snagging!

There's another NDN news site, which I used to pull from when doing the podcast news, and I'll try to post it here.

I don't agree with EVERYTHING they (AIM) did, but.....putting myself in Peltier's chooz, I would have done the same as he.

I guess that's why crazy Indians like us need crazy Indian women to keep us in line.

Here's something to consider Restless, every generation the people in a particular age group tend to share a distinct set of beliefs, attitudes, values and behaviors because they all grow up and come of age during a particular period in history. As such, the prominent people of that time period are also subject to being "popular" because of that particular time frame. Given a different period or a different generation those who were once prominent would be unlikely to be considered the same cultural value as the generation that admired them in the first place. IOW, while folks like Peltier might have been prominent in the 70s because of the 70s generation - today's generation along with their values and beliefs might not have included Peltier in their generational attitudes.

Some sociologists lay claim that generations cycle through what is termed "turnings" and each of these turnings are about 20-25 years in length. They are divided into four cycles - High, Awakening, Unraveling and Crisis. In Crises and Awakenings both of these are defining eras in which people observe that historic events are radically altering their social environment. Crises are periods marked by major secular upheaval, when society focuses on reorganizing the outer world of institutions and public behavior (the last American Crisis was the period spanning the Great Depression and World War II). Awakenings are periods marked by cultural or religious renewal, when society focuses on changing the inner world of values and private behavior (the last American Awakening was the “Consciousness Revolution” of the 1960s and 1970s).

Other sociologists follow that each era yields a generation that is unique in their attributes and instill those attributes onto the next generation only to find they are rejected. For example, a child born at the end of a crisis period tended to be over-indulged and become crusaders for the awakening period. Those born in a awakening period tend to be nomadic and under-protected by their elders. They tend to challenge establishments. They in turn raise the next generation in an era of awakening who tend to be self reliant and pragmatic they in turn raise the next generation in the unravelling era where that generation grows up over protected and ethically engaged in personal sacrifice.

Given that theory, I can see where today's kids would not hold onto to the prominent people of the 70s generation - the values and beliefs raised in the 70s would not be what drives a kid of the post 9/11 crisis period we are in now.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
